Bloody Mary Recipe

Ok folks, I don't want the google search special.  Give me some tried and true recipes.  I'm a big fan of the spicy, too!  Going camping next weekend (NE '08) and Ima need some tomato-y goodness in the mornings to get me going.

When I make them I just vary amounts of hot sauce, worcestershire sauce, horse radish, and black pepper. Just mix in random amounts until it tastes good :tongue:

2oz vodka
4oz tomato juice
1/2 oz lemon juice
1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp tabasco sauce
pinch of celery salt and black peper

Oh, it's a caesar with just tomato juice, not clamato juice... weird.

the secret is how it's assembled.

Mortons makes "hot salt", so here's what you do...

add ice to your cup, add your vodka, then a dash of hot salt, pepper, celery salt, and Tabasco, then your V8, then worcestershire sauce. Mix and sprinkle more hot salt if needed.

also, you might want to use pepper vodka, if you can find it.

Absolut Peppar is an amazing spirit.  The best flavored vodka ever w/jalapenos tomatos and herbs, definitely get it!

I've substituted V8 hot and spicy for the tomato juice with surprising results, try it.

So you think if I tried to make a big batch all at once it wouldn't turn out so great?  I kinda want to make a big ass jug that I can just pour cups out of, but I guess I could always bring the individual ingredients.

If your going camping it might just be easier to get premade bloody mary mix.

You can make a big batch and pour cups and it would be fine as long as you do not put the vodka in the mix. You have to put the vodka in each cup you pour individually.

If you leave a bloody mary mix with vodka in it and it sits for a while it becomes toxic.  At bartenders school they showed us an article about it.  Some guy woke up hung over the morning after a party. So he went to the fridge and grabbed the bloody-mary pitcher leftover from the previous night (which had the vodka already mixed in) drank it, got sick and died in the hospital.
