the full course here costs well over £1000 and you usually have to buy all the equipment from the club you train with, and where i live theres not really any hills, so i would have to spend over 1500 on a powered harness just to get high enough to search for thermals.:sad:

dude everywhere is fucking full of polski, there is like 10 polish shops 5mins walk from here, was same where i lived before as well, i'm not racist but its annoying that 1 in every 5 people is now polish.

i know what you mean, it ust feels like its where i should be. would be great if i go there for a holiday next year and meet a girl and it all just pans out how it should, but never usaually works out easy for me:confused:

yeah when i worked as labourer on building site, the english were actually the minority, not even joking it was something like a third english a third polish and pakistani and a third every other nation in the world. was like a UN meeting

Yea man, BC is an amazing place- has the pacific climate over the rest of Canada. When I get settled, somewhere in BC is the place for me.

If you do plan to come for a trip next year remember the winter olympics are coming to BC, may makes things more difficult or better for you. Also, afaik, the snowboard/skiing season is not all year round, even in the mountains- but I've never been to the BC mountain resorts.. so just a guess based off what I know of Canada generally.

Otherwise man, at least enjoy the trip to BC. I've been trying to get myself out there too! Can you imagine a Canadian that hasn't seen over half of his own country yet!!

vancouver island is apparently quite temperate, but it also gets a ton of rain

i think it only rains alot on the island and coast areas. i spent the summer in the okanagan valley and it only rained once or twice the entire time i was there. maybe it was just a dry season though. lotta forest fires.

have fun, you won't want to leave once you're there :laugh:
cost of living is pretty high though so it's a good idea to save up as much as possible before you go.

just out of interest i checked out craigslist for vancouver to see how much a apartment costs to rent and most of them are a lot cheaper than here in bristol, also a lot bigger as well.

This isn't true. BC is a massive province which i've lived in my who life. The only part of BC that doesn't get snow is the Coast.

We have avalanches that close highways and stuff - id say the majority of the province gets a few feet of snow at least.

It only rains alot on the Coast (when i lived in Vancouver, it set a record, 31 days straight.) Vancouver and vancouver island are temperate rainforests.

I live 3.5 hours away East of Vancouver and it is a semi-arrid desert, and it only rains a handful of times per year, same with the Okanagan.

If you are looking for hippies the sunshine coast is great, it might be a good idea to try "wwoofing" around the coast, so you can meet people, because the communities are pretty small.

However, id strongly recommend the kootenays before the sunshine coast, Specifically the town of Nelson - i think you would be more likely to find a community there than in the smaller communities.

Ski season is mid November until about March (i think.)

Compared to Britain I would say BC doesn't get cold. Of course northern parts do. But on par to the rest of Canada the highly populated areas of BC do not get very cold.

Some history i actually lived in Sheffield for a couple years and i have to say it actually rains ALOT less here.
also you've got whistler just a couple hours away which has AMAZING skiing/snowboarding.

also there's great mushrooms grow here lots of cyan's.

and there's a big local music scene here, and lots of places to trip.
definitely a great place to be if you want to go to try something different.

plus you'll be here after the whole Olympic's BS so you don't have to deal with it

-5C in the Thompson Okanagan right now, -15C at night.

On a bad winter it gets below -35 in the evenings.

I'm from Ontario, Canada... and figure once I'm done university (one more term), after a vacation to India, I might move to BC and look for a job there

Canada's got a nice atmosphere, and BC is the best Canada has to offer... so yeah, good stuff :thumbup:
