The simple reason is that people like you would fucking flip out. Simply the way you worded it shows how hysterical you get at even the thought of abortion: "Why not just shoot everybaby at birth..."
Who said we wanted to abort every baby?
"Given the choice, most people choose life." Go up to any person or child and ask them if they want to die, like you said they choose life. Go up and ask a baby that, it looks up at you cutely and says NOTHING. The reason why its ok for the parents to abort a baby is because it is NOT CONSCIOUS. It can't say yes or no because it can't speak or THINK.
If you think that unthinking cells that have human DNA in them are holy, then why do you let the rest of someones body die if they get in an accident and lose their head? Its all living human flesh, any wrongs it was involved in were the responsibility of it's former brain. The serial killers hand is as guilty as the serial killers unborn child, yet you think of one entirely differently.
An unborn child is like a loaf of bread in the oven, near the end of the baking it can be pulled out a little early and still pass off as a loaf, if you pull it out really early we see that it could have been a loaf but its still DISTINCTLY DOUGH. If you are willing to tell me that bread dough is a loaf of bread then why don't you think flour, water and yeast are a loaf of bread?
Every egg that a woman allows to go to waste is one less potential baby. If a fertilized egg isn't a potential baby I don't know what else to call it, because if you say a little piling of cells that would die within minutes of being poked off the uterine wall is the same thing as the little organism laughing and smiling at you then I think you are demeaning the baby, and your cause.
