A gift of cyans - West Sound

Came out of the local post office and took the dog for a walk in a park across the street and right in the open was a small patch.. just sitting there. I was amazed.

Relatively small fruits and again, starting to fade.

After all my bitching about how hard it is to find the right habitat on this side of the Sound, once again I am proved wrong.. here's the plateful I got:

Finally, a non-active but I thought it was interesting.. the pic doesn't due it justice.. a redish violet shroom.. no spore print or further ID yet..:

Nice find;  The government is so good at growing those things :smile:

There are definitely *mostly* cyanescens in there, be sure to check for any of those that don't have a distinct white stem.  The only reason I mention it is I've found a couple patches that were almost 50/50 galerina/cyanescens.  Even one is too much.  Congrats on a great find; even more, congrats on a great place!!

Nothing, and I mean nothing gets kept that hasn't passed a spore test. If you notice, every picture I post has white plates.. so that I can see the spore color dropped from each respective shroom. Perhaps its overkill on the most obvious ones (and the last few batches have been WAY obvious haha heheee!!) but better overkill than killed!

I've gotten pretty comfortable with my cyans ID's in the field now, but a little safety goes a long way in my book.

Still haven't ID's that last non-active. I find lots of edibles in my travels (don't think this is edible though), and I'm often blown away by the shades of violet, blue and reds I see.. so pretty.. I'm educating myself on broadening my myco knowledge so I pick a few interesting ones to ID/educate later. If anyone has any ideas on this one I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again and I hope no one ever gets tired of my safety spiel.. as a newbie I think its important.

*sorry to go off topic*

It is a very old picture, back in the disposable camera days.  It is an absolutely perfect mountain-gathered cow pie;  baked in the hot summer sun for at least an entire season, maybe more.  Worthy of any tossing contest, made a *tink* sound if you dropped it.  I grew some nice ones from that collection.
