sup shroomery,

just felt like sharing my success, yesterday i scaled up all my harvest from 7 1/2 pint BRF cakes. and it was 46 grams dried from the first flush and second flush, the cakes have shrunk quite abit and i feel as if they have given it there all, im going to redunk but i doubt that will help much.my strains are alacabenzi (my favorite), cambodian and equadorian. i really wanna try penis envy but i think the very little spore thing will piss me off.

anyway, the way i go about it is alittle different then most, these are my changes.

the key to my success is AS MUCH WATER AS POSSIBLE in all areas.

i have my shotgun fruiting chamber on a tilt with a shit load of tiny holes only in the back so the CO2 runs down and out. and i have a airstone in a chemistry beaker that i have to say looks quite classy.

i never fan but i mist twice a day.

i place my cakes on the perlite. also, pet peeve. PERLITE IS TO BE DRAINED AND PLACED, NO STANDING GOD DAMN WATER.

also, get a god damn pressure cooker. mines electric and in my room, it fits 8 tall 1/2 pint as snug as a glove.
its really handy cause it keeps my whole operation in one room.

after my jars are fully colonized i let sit for two sometimes three weeks before i dunk, this is more or less cause i have alot of ready cakes, but i feel this might have an over all effect.

also, when i dunk i take a elongated tooth pick and puncture two holes threw the cake from top to bottom for maximum water absorption. some may say this is a contaminate trigger, but ive never had a problem.

i dunk for 12 hours in the fridge.

i use only ambient light from around my room, i installed the proper fluorescent bulbs for growing shrooms into roof top light, but i spend most of my time in the dark. so the shrooms probably only get half an hour of light a day at best.

also, i dont roll my cakes in verm, this is out of laziness cause i hate cleaning up the verm in my terrarium and i find it has little difference cause my terrarium is SO humidified. i believe that is the key to my success, AS MUCH WATER AS GOD DAMN POSSIBLE.

i have dipped in rye berries and made several minibulks, never touched hpoo though and for the work its not worth it for me, i have such success with BRF i have no plans to expand my arsenal of teks.

learn for yourself, try out new things, this doesnt have to be a by the book hobby, peace and happy growing.

I agree. i'm always trying new things. even if it fails i concider it a sucess...because i learned what NOT TO DO. great post!

To the op ... I'm not trying to give you a hard time but cakes are pretty user friendly ... these methods you are listing aren't optimal standards for your grows ... perhaps even detrimental ... your cakes are just allowing all this to happen and producing anyway ...

you really shouldnt be telling people to place your cakes directly on the perlite. in most cases that just waterlogs the cakes. im assuming your top perlite layer must have significantly dried out in order for this to not cause any problems for you.

edit- i just finished reading your whole thread. i think its a butchered version of the pf tek. bad advice all around.

like i said, this works for me, thats all im saying. my terrarium is incredibly humidified and my top layer of perlite is quite moist.

Well a cake is moist as well, that doesn't mean it will make my terrarium humid although more tastier.

It WORKS, but is it BETTER?
