so, i just got back, hard to believe that i was out for about 6 hours...

i ended up towing a LOT of people, about 10 or so up the mountains. most of them were going to the same resort, and were all stuck in the same uphill turn.....

the highlights were the sweet mustang, the big ass suv (that couldnt hold its own) and the fancy BMW.

some people gave me nothing, I got $50 from the BMW people (they were rich as fuck, it was the only time i actually asked for $$)

I had to drive a few peoples cars for them as they were too afraid to drive them themselves, and they were backing up traffic....

all in all i made about $170

also, one family only had $3 and they really wanted to give me more, and were extreemely greatful... a lady named dawn and her husband... steve? anyways, they are supposed to swing by my place tomorrow and say hi! heres hoping i get to see them.

and now for the pics not too many, as i was in a big rush most of the time

yeah it was a lot of fun...

that bmw though...

they had one of their tire chains wrapped around the axle, luckily i just happen to carry around some industrial bolt cutters.... :smile: and chopped it off...

then i couldnt find anywhere safe to actually tie onto... i left them there for about an hour or 2 and kept checkin back.... then right when i was going to go home, i had a stroke of genious, and remembered that german cars usually have a special bolt somewhere in the trunk that screws into the bumper so that they can get towed safely...

i found it, and got them home in 10 minutes..... damn rich kids, they were trying to have it towed over 100 miles to a dealership, lol...

those were plowed and sanded roads actually... there was about a foot that i shoveled off of my driveway when i got home...

as for ontario.... you guys seem to just close roads from time to time...

not that there is anything wrong with that, but i must say that its rare down in the states, one of those little differences that i notice when visiting your neck of the woods.

although, i used to live in Chicago for a number of years, and to be honest, geographically we get the same amount of snow as you do in Ontario....

Roads like that are why I drive a Subaru and run snow tires in the winter. I go where I like when I like.

I came home to a thank you hallmark card wedged next to the door from a family that I had towed to one of the resorts the other day!!! they even put a gift certificate to a local cafe inside :smile:

it was really nice of them!

That's a damn good idea, I should keep a tow strap in my suv for when the weather turns to shit here.  Won't really be lucrative round these parts, but it's an easy enough thing to do to be nice.

I know if I was stuck in a ditch I'd rather give some random entrepreneurial dude 50 bucks rather than a tow truck 100.

All these people that are bitching about him trying to make money need to stfu.  They'd probably have to wait a long ass time and pay $100+ for a tow with a company if they don't have AAA, and even with AAA they'll probably end up waiting quite awhile if it's a nasty storm.

More power to ya, Zippoz!  I think you should ask for money more often.  Hell, maybe even put out a CL ad or advertise some other way that you'll come yank people out of the snow for a nominal fee.  If you can undercut the tow companies and keep your schedule open for inclement weather I bet you could turn that into quite a thriving little business for yourself.  You could also advertise that you change tires and do small repairs.  Betcha a lot of rich folks don't know how to change a tire or a million other little things you know how to do.

I could see that kinda thing turning into a nice little cash cow for ya, man.  $28/hour minus gas is nothing to wave a stick at.  Keep it up, and I say take it even farther! :awesome::thumbup:

i was being sarcastic... i totally agree.  hes providing a service.  if he wasn't there, theywould be stuck in the snow, therefore, he is helping them, therefore, they should help him back.
