Snow in Las Vegas :updated-pics:
    #2209536 - 12/30/03 07:43 AM (20 years, 2 months ago)

I got up for work this morning at my usual 4 am and imagine my suprise to find a fresh coat of snow on everything! A good 2 inches everywhere. I know this seems like no big deal to most of you but I've lived in Las Vegas for almost 25 years and this is only about the 4th or 5th time I've seen it snow like this in the valley.

I went in to work anyway but as I expected they sent me home. Good thing because I was going to be operating an open-cab machine today! Anyway, I took some pictures. It was the first time I have been able to get good pics of my house with snow on it. I'll post them when they are developed.

So I am in a holiday mood today. Hope you all had a good holiday as well and have a great New Year.

Heres a couple pics of my house that morning. Thats my in-laws truck in the driveway.

Thats my old Ford truck on the street.

These pictures were taken at about 4:30 in the morning as I was leaving for work (still dark out). They were time exposures done on a tripod. So heres one I shot with a flash so you can see that it was dark and still snowing when I took them.

I know its not that big a deal for most of you to see a bit of snow on the ground, but its a rare thing in Vegas. In more than 2 decades I?ve only seen it snow in this valley a handful of times and only one other time did we get as much as this.
