ID's Plz : Gym maybe & somehting else
    #11410892 -

After three hours of scanning the closest river to me on a beautiful day. I finally finally finally think I have a gymnopilus. I apologize for their poor condition but that is how they where found .
# 1

Habitat:
On a log maybe 10 feet away from a stream/river. Mostly in small clusters.
Gills:
Yellow Gills
Stem:
The stem is hollow. It is orange but kind of dark.
Cap:
Yellow, some with rusty spores on them. has an after-sent and smells kind of sweet. A lot like Jagermiester or anise.
Spore print color:
Same as pholiota.
Bruising:
No obvious bruising.

#2

Habitat:
On a live tree, in a knot-hole
Gills: White
Stem: White and Long
Cap: White and big maybe 5 inches in diameter
Spore print color: Was not harvested
Bruising: Was not touched

Something about these mushrooms just told me not to fuck with them.

I don't think the first one is a Gym.  The second one looks like Hypsizygus tessulatus.  They're out now.

I'm really not sure at all what the first one is. it is too yellow to be galerina and has a very different scent. It doesn't look like the pholiota I've recently found on my past two hunts(the gills are yellow). They look to small to be gyms. Definitly not Mycena of any kind(at least I don't think).

The cap shape is also pancakey, which I was kind of thrown off by.

I'm just not sure.

But the second one I completely agree with your ID .

That first one confuses the hell out of me too.  Maybe someone else will catch it.

im not sure where the OP is from, but when i found amillaria tabescence her in FL on stumps, the gills were a brown color despite the white spore prints. im kinda confused on the actuall shape of the mushroom due to the poor pics.

The spore print is not white. It is brownish like pholiota. If you see on pic three the red part is spores that have fallen on it, the yellow/tan part is the actual flesh.

The caps are circular in shape but are not belled like gymnopilus, they virtually have no height(think XYZ the cap laying on the XZ as it would a table).

I wish I had a better camera but I sadly do not :frown:.

Yea I'd call it Pholiota, at least until a better name comes along.

The pholiota I found maybe 200 yards(up an incline) looked very different and did not smell sweet.

It could be, I just don't know. I could go out tomorrow and take another picture of them in habitat if that might help?

Yes that would help a lot!

Use a real digital camera and enable macro mode.

A clear photo would help tremendously.
