Getting a drill for shotgun terrarium

First time grower here. I plan on making a shotgun terrarium, but I need to acquire a drill. I'm a college student so it isn't exactly the thing I want to be buying right now, but I can probably borrow one from my dad. The thing is, I don't know what to tell him it's for, any ideas? I was thinking some kind of maintenance around the apartment but I can't think of anything specific.

yes, screwdriver and a gas stove.(or even a lighter if you got no stove.)

simply heat the tip of the screw driver up real good, and poke away at your tub. You should be able to do a few holes per heat up.

MAke sure you do use heat or you'll crack that tub bad and be sad.

I used a sterno lamp and let it get real hot and heat up a nail with a pair of pliers goes right through.

Wow thanks for all the creative replies, definitely didn't think of mounting something, that's perfect. The heating and poking method sounds promising too, although a bit dangerous, good to have options.

If you don't trust yourself to heat up a screwdriver then you shouldn't go near a syringe or pressure cooker!!!

go to radio shack or walmart and get a cheap solder iron for like 5-8 bucks

I didn't have an electric screwdriver either, but had a 1/4in screwdriver laying around.
What I did was made a DIY alcohol lamp with 99% isopropyl, and just heated the screwdriver up with that to make the holes.

The only thing with this way is the alcohol and the metal made made this black oil substance and made the holes have a black border around them (anyone know what that is?), and also melted plastic remains on the inner wall.

Just make sure you heat it up frequently enough or the container will crack.

i always hit up pawn shops when i need any kind of general contracting tool. there must be a shit ton of broke ass general contractors. anyways, i got my 9amp balck and decker drill for like $10
