colonization
    #11353054 -

Hi, I know I should have come here before I started, but I did use various guides.  I am currently in the process of doing some colonization.  I used earthstounge.com... which I have read some mixed reviews on, plus I know know they are not a sponsored vendor.  I received those new moon syringes.  The ones that are black.  Plus, I was just lazy, and got a whole mushroom kit pre-sterilized jars with rice/verm.  It seems to be going ok, longer then I thought, I have a few jars that seem even a little less then 1/2 colonized and it has been about 21 days now.  I have started getting into this more, and want to do everything myself, so I want to do another batch all on my own, and will of course be using a sponsored vendor, I believe I would go with spore works.  I have started going over all the great resources here, although I do have one big question though.  For colonization, do I need to put them somewhere with no light?  I have read that on other teks, but don't see it mentioned that you need to on here.  Could this be anything that is slowing me down, or is it just the species maybe? I have B+ Ecuadorian, and they also sent me Creeper. The mycelium does seem to be growing a little everyday, and on some jars it looks to be a very light tint within the blotches.  Unfortunately, do you think this is contamination, or would it be anything to do with the "new moon" spores?  Thanks in advance for the info.

I believe the general consensus here is that earth's tongue is garbage.

What temperature are you storing them at? A very very common 'noob' mistake is to try to incubate at way too high temps which can stall colonization speeds.

Ambient light will not hurt the colonizing mycelium. Keep the jars out of direct sunlight and they will be fine.

Without a good picture, it's impossible to tell if your jars are contaminated.

I've never used that supplier so,.

:goodluck:

ROOM TEMP 70-75 IS BEST FOR COLONIZATION
Thank you mycochef
