My friend is attempting to grow this strain and he wants to know if it is a slow growing as far as the myclium to get started...its been almost a week and only a couple of the jars are showing minimal growth of the strain...very very slow start ...is this normal? thanks and if anyone has any history of this strain please include in the reply...he knows hardly anything about it only that a friend of his told him it was fairly easy to grow. thanks groovers

The only experience I've had with Equadors has shown them to be fairly slow to colonize. They took about 3 1/2 to 4 weeks to finish. It seemed for the first few weeks that they would take longer because they started off very slow right after germination. However, their growth rate increased at a steady pace throughout colonization so that during the last week, they covered a lot of ground. Sorry, I don't know anything about the history of the strain.

Mine were about 60% covered after 9 days... no my jars after 12 days are about 95% covered and have been like that for 2 days.. taking a little to long to finish.. errr.. umm.. I just took off the lids right now in a very sterile container and left them outside under a black blanket in the warm heat of the sun... hope they speedy up.

Yes, usually EQs are slow at starting colonization but once they start you can't stop them :P My dog's jars have been in the incubator for 20 days now and are at 80% of colonization, of course inoculated with Ecuador spores. ta ta

mine started after about 4 days at 86F, incubation is the key, keep them at a warm temp and they grow like mad, at room temps it may take as long as a month.

They were very fast in the late summer, early fall. They are much slower now. When my closet temp was 84, they kicked ass. Now I'm in the lower 70's most of the time. Every time I try to add heat, I get the jars on the dry side, so I'm having the same thing right now - with all my strains.

What do you recommend for heating? I have a heat pad but you surely wouldn't want them directly on that would you?
