Can be insanely accurate sometimes.. it's been a fascination of mine for quite some time.
I recently had a natal chart and analysis made by a guy who didn't even know me and it was pretty much spot on
Then I was just reading this generic aquarius traits thing and pretty much everything on it strikes home

Quote:

Aquarius About Your Sign...

Aquarians basically possess strong and attractive personalities. They fall into two principle types: one shy, sensitive, gentle and patient; the other exuberant, lively and exhibitionist, sometimes hiding the considerable depths of their character under a cloak of frivolity. Both types are strong willed and forceful in their different ways and have strong convictions, though as they seek truth above all things, they are usually honest enough to change their opinions, however firmly held, if evidence comes to light which persuades them that they have been mistaken. They have a breadth of vision that brings diverse factors into a whole, and can see both sides of an argument without shilly-shallying as to which side to take. Consequently they are unprejudiced and tolerant of other points of view. This is because they can see the validity of the argument, even if they do not accept it themselves. They obey the Quaker exhortation to "Be open to truth, from whatever source it comes," and are prepared to learn from everyone.

Both types are humane, frank, serious minded, genial, refined, sometimes ethereal, and idealistic, though this last quality is tempered with a sensible practicality. They are quick, active and persevering without being self-assertive, and express themselves with reason, moderation and sometimes, a dry humor.

They are nearly always intelligent, concise, clear and logical. Many are strongly imaginative and psychically intuitive, so that the Age of Aquarius, which is about to begin, is much anticipated by psychic circles as an age in which mankind will experience a great spiritual awakening. The Aquarian philosophical and spiritual bent may be dangerous in that it can drive the subjects into an ivory-tower existence where they meditate on abstractions that bear little relevance to life. On the other hand it can help the many who have scientific leanings to combine these with the Aquarian yearning for the universal recognition of the brotherhood of man, and to embark on scientific research to fulfill their philanthropic ideals of benefiting mankind. When some cause or work of this nature inspires them, they are capable of such devotion to it that they may drive themselves to the point of exhaustion and even risk injuring their health.

Both types need to retire from the world at times and to become temporary loners. They appreciate opportunities for meditation or, if they are religious, of retreats. Even in company they are fiercely independent, refusing to follow the crowd. They dislike interference by others, however helpfully intended, and will accept it only on their own terms. Normally they have good taste in drama, music and art, and are also gifted in the arts, especially drama.

In spite of the often intensely magnetic, forthcoming and open personality of the more extrovert kind of Aquarian, and of their desire to help humanity, neither type makes friends easily. They sometimes appear to condescend to others and take too little trouble to cultivate the acquaintance of people who do not particularly appeal to them.
They do not give themselves easily - perhaps their judgment of human nature is too good for that - and are sometimes accounted cold. But once they decide that someone is worthy of their friendship or love, they can exert an almost hypnotic and irresistible mental attraction on them and will themselves become tenacious friends or lovers, ready to sacrifice everything for their partners and be faithful to them for life. However, they are sometimes disappointed emotionally because their own high personal ideals cause them to demand more of others than is reasonable. And if they are deceived their anger is terrible. If disillusioned, they do not forgive.

Aquarians work best in group projects, provided that they are recognized as having a leading part in them. They have a feeling of unity with nature and a desire for knowledge and truth that makes them admirable scientists, especially astronomers and natural historians. They may excel in photography, radiography, electronics - anything connected with the electrical and radio industries - aviation and everything technical. On the arts and humanities side their progressive tendencies can be expressed in writing, especially poetry, and broadcasting, or as welfare workers and teachers. Some have gifts as entertainers and make good character actors (having an ability to mimic) and musicians. The more psychic among them possess healing gifts, especially in curing the mentally sick.

Among the faults to which they are liable are fanatical eccentricity, wayward egotism, excessive detachment and an inclination to retreat from life and society, and a tendency to be extremely dogmatic in their opinions. Aquarians can be a threat to all they survey or a great boon for humanity in general. Circumstances - for example, continuous opposition to a cause they hold dear - may cause the atrophy of the openness of mind that is one of the Aquarian's most attractive traits. They may express a lack of integrity in broken promises, secretiveness or cunning. Simmering anger and resentment, rudeness or, worse, a tense, threatening silence which may suddenly burst out in eruptions of extreme temper, these are all part of the negative side of the Aquarian. This can also reveal itself in a sustained hatred for enemies that is capable of enlarging itself into a misanthropy toward the whole of mankind.
Possible Health Concerns...
As Aquarius is said to govern the legs from knees to ankles and the circulation of blood, its natives are susceptible to ailments particularly in the legs and ankles, such as cramps, and are also liable to spasmodic and nervous complaints, as well as wind, catarrh, diarrhea, dropsy, goiter and delirium tremens - so that the avoidance of alcohol is important for those Aquarians who have a taste for it.

Guilty as charged on pretty much all accounts... some of those traits are so accurate it's almost frightening. Even down to the ailments in the legs and ankles.. I am susceptible to insano calf cramps out of nowhere, I have woken up screaming from the pain.

Then comes the natal chart, and its basic interpretation.

Chapter 1: How You Approach Life and How You Appear To Others

Aries Rising:

You meet life head on and throw yourself into new experiences with zest and enthusiasm. You are direct, straightforward, assertive, and usually completely aboveboard in all your dealings. Candid and incapable of guile, insincerity or phoniness, you project a confident and sometimes arrogant appearance to others. You often lack tact and sensitivity, and can be completely oblivious to others' needs, and inadvertently selfish. You are self-reliant and don't depend upon social approval and reinforcement as much as other people do. You like to be original and do not mind going it alone. You may feel that you do not fit into groups very well, and that you do not naturally blend in and cooperate with others very easily. You like to be either a leader or a loner.

You are a doer and thrive on freedom, challenge, and activity. You tend to think in clear, black and white terms, and to be somewhat simplistic in your outlook, which enables you to act in a very decisive and self-assured manner. When inspired with an idea, you feel such a sense of urgency and excitement about it that you will often charge ahead and try to implement it in a rather bold but poorly planned and crudely executed way. Patience and careful attention to details are not your forte. However, you never accept defeat and will have brilliant and unprecedented successes and discoveries, as well as painful failures. To you it is far better to make mistakes than it is to play it safe and never try.

You are scornful of what you see as weakness or passivity in others and also of the human tendency to imitate and follow. You are not a follower. Others see you as a strong individual, and perhaps brash and brazen as well. You present a strong front to the world and generally do not allow others to see your vulnerable or insecure side.

Chapter 2: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation

Sun in Aquarius:

You are a freedom-loving, strong-willed, and independent-minded individual, and you insist upon living your own life as you see fit, even if that means ignoring convention and tradition. In personal relationships you cannot be owned or possessed, and while you are willing to share yourself with another, you do not always adjust easily to the emotional give and take of a close relationship. Though intellectually open, you can be enormously stubborn, opinionated, and inflexible on a one-to-one level. You have strong convictions and feelings about fairness and equality, and you try to live by your ideals, but your ideals about how people SHOULD treat one another don't always take into account human weaknesses, differences, and needs. You probably dislike sentimentality and traditional gender roles and "games".

You are fair, intelligent, objective, rational and often let your head rule rather than your heart. You seem rather self-sufficient and detached emotionally because you are capable of putting aside your personal feelings and viewing things dispassionately. But once you make up your mind on an issue, you are difficult to sway and can be rather dogmatic.

You think in broad terms and are concerned with the world beyond your own personal sphere - your town, nation, or even planet. You are likely to become involved in community affairs, social organizations, and groups of all kinds, or to have a keen interest in such. You enjoy being part of a group endeavor and often find yourself organizing, managing, or supervising group activities.

Forward-looking and progressive, you harbor great hopes for the future. You stay current and up to date, and respond to contemporary cultural trends, both in terms of personal style and in terms of ideas. When young you were very influenced by your peers and by group pressures and by all the "latest crazes". You have an experimental mind and are attracted by the novel.

Your strong points include your concern for human welfare and social betterment, your sense of fairness and democratic spirit, and your vision. Your faults are your stubbornness and inflexibility, and a tendency to be very obtuse and insensitive when it comes to personal feelings and human needs.

Sun in 11th house:

Leading groups and classes, and being involved in community efforts, social activities, events or movements are areas where you really shine and express your creativity. An awareness of politics or the larger social impact of individual actions is natural to you.

Sun Square Moon:

You often feel that you are at cross purposes with yourself, for your conscious intentions and desires conflict with your subconscious emotional needs and drives. You are pulled in two different directions. You have difficulty satisfying both your need to be an individual and your need for caring relationships and a sense of belonging. Also, you send out mixed messages so people don't always know how to respond to you or know what you really want, thus creating confusion or conflict in close relationships.

Sun Trine Saturn:

Realistic and practical, you set goals for yourself that are modest enough for you to actually achieve. You are able to tackle long, difficult projects and see them through, for you possess self-discipline, concentration, and perseverance. You also have a strong sense of responsibility and are very conscientious in fulfilling your obligations. Often you do things because you feel it is expected of you.

Sun Trine Pluto:

You have a deep belief in your own power and your ability to survive any change and to emerge victoriously from any difficulty. You have tremendous inner resources and strength. Intense, strong willed, and zealous, you pursue your desires and goals with complete dedication and singleness of purpose, and you may be somewhat compulsive, even fanatical at times. You like to live intensely and have no respect for people who are weak, who avoid confronting life and their own destiny.

Sun Sextile Neptune:

You are imaginative and sensitive to anything colorful, beautiful, or magical. You are attracted to artistic and creative pursuits, music, and mysticism. Your spiritual values color your whole perspective and approach to life. You are idealistic and perhaps impractical.

Chapter 3: Mental Interests and Abilities

Mercury in Aquarius:

You are a progressive thinker, open and receptive to new technologies and breakthroughs in science, and the latest discoveries in any field. You have high expectations and a deep belief that mankind's problems can be solved through the use of our creative intelligence and inventive mind. You have no patience for those whose conservative, unimaginative outlook limits their capacity to find solutions and envision a better future. You also like to keep abreast of current developments in world affairs, for you instinctively know that what happens in one part of the world affects everyone. You have a strong humanitarian impulse. Practically speaking, you have an aptitude for organization and enjoy being involved in cooperative endeavors or businesses that are contemporary and innovative.

Mercury in 11th house:

You have a good understanding of group trends, politics, mass movements, and community affairs. Sharing ideas with groups of people is something you do well and are likely to be involved with. You collaborate well in group efforts and are likely to be part of a successful team or large organization.

Mercury Sextile Uranus:

Independent and free-thinking, you dislike being told what to do and how to do it, and you especially do not like being told how to think, for you insist on discovering your own truth. You do well in a rather unstructured environment that allows you to make your own decisions and to respond to the needs of the moment, rather than following a routine, standardized way of doing things. You are also suited to a fast-paced atmosphere, which you find exciting and stimulating. Your mind functions in an intuitive, nonlinear fashion and sudden insights and flashes of inspiration often come to you "out of the blue". You have an aptitude for science and new technologies especially interest you. You also have a penchant for astrology or other esoteric sciences.

Chapter 4: Emotions: Moods, Feelings, Romance

Moon in Scorpio:

Secretive and inclined to brooding silences, it is difficult for others to really know your inner core, for you trust and open yourself to very few. Allowing yourself to be vulnerable and to relinquish control in relationships is not easy for you.

You have intense, passionate loves and hates and are a jealously loyal and protective friend - or a fearsome foe. You have a nasty habit of holding on to past hurts, resentments, and guilt - and to keep such feelings to yourself. It is important for you to learn to forgive and let go, as well as to express your feelings openly and directly, rather than hiding or repressing them.

You are not content with superficial appearances and are always probing beneath the surface of things for hidden motives. You have a great deal of emotional depth.

Moon in 8th house:

Though you want closeness very much, you often close yourself off and do not really trust others who may wish to get to know you. You are very wholehearted in your feelings and responses to people, and you want all or nothing from the people you care for.

Moon Sextile Venus:

You feel that little, daily acts of caring and thoughtfulness are essential to the happiness and success of a relationship and you know how to make others feel accepted, loved, and cherished. You enjoy good relationships with women.

Venus in Capricorn:

You are definitely not one to wear your heart on your sleeve. You care very much about others' opinions and crave love and appreciation as much as anyone, but one would never know it from your reserved and seemingly detached appearance. Casual, superficial relationships don't interest you at all. You are cautious and serious about love and really desire a deep, genuine, lasting love. You are old-fashioned about courtship and love, and will remain faithful to your loved one in good times and in bad.

You may be attracted to persons older than yourself, someone who is emotionally mature and reliable and who can provide the security you desire.

Venus in 10th house:

Promoting beauty, the arts, or entertainment can make you very happy. You want to contribute something positive and loving to the world at large and you want to be recognized for your beauty, artistic gifts, or loving generosity. You may "marry" your work - that is, be more involved in your career than in your private life. You enjoy hosting others, and are a natural diplomat.

Venus Square Mars:

You are intensely amorous and attractive to the opposite sex, and are not inclined to friendly platonic relationships. There is much tension in your love life - often because you put your desires ahead of your partner's, and are impatient about having your love needs satisfied. The whole arena of love, romance, and sex is endlessly fascinating for you and you are not happy without a love partner. You can "burn yourself out" by pouring so much of your energy into romance.

Venus Square Saturn:

You are serious and find it difficult to enjoy yourself in a lighthearted, open and playful way with others. You rarely do something purely for pleasure, and can be very close-fisted and parsimonious. Perhaps due to painful separations in your early life, you are very cautious about becoming close to people and sharing your feelings. Though you crave love and affection, intimacy is difficult for you. You may become romantically involved with people who do not value you or treat you well. You need to learn to love and value yourself before you will find happiness in love.

Venus Square Pluto:

You experience powerful, compelling emotional and sexual attractions, and you may feel that you have little choice or control over your desires. You have an intense need for love and may be emotionally greedy or insatiable. Your love life is passionate and often tumultuous and painful as well. Jealousy, power struggles, or over-possessiveness can become areas of conflict in your relationships. Positively, you can be unusually creative and bring about beneficial and healing changes in the lives of others, motivated by your deeply felt love.

Chapter 5: Drive and Ambition: How You Achieve Your Goals

Mars in Libra:

You seesaw between being too pushy, confrontational, and insistent on doing things your way, and being too eager to please, without a clear, definite goal of your own. You strive for a balance between acting independently and assertively - and working cooperatively and interdependently with others. You may feel frustrated at times that you cannot simply do what YOU want to, that you must always accommodate the needs and desires of others. Or you may feel hesitant to act in a positive, assertive manner if you do not have the support and approval of other people. Either way, you are not a loner. You achieve your goals by collaborating and joining forces with others, by being a team player. You are very concerned with the concept of fairness and become quite indignant and vocal if you sense someone is being taken advantage of. You avoid extremism and favor a balanced, moderate approach to living. You are unlikely to push yourself too hard or to become fanatically driven to reach your goals.

Mars in 7th house:

You are attracted to feisty, dynamic, strong-willed people, and you seem to need a lot of fireworks in your personal relationships. You can be very combative, or get involved with people who are. Ideally you will join with people who are energetic and ambitious, but not too domineering or aggressive.

Mars Conjunct Saturn:

You are very serious about reaching your goals and feel that keeping your nose to the grindstone is the only way to do it. Hard work, persistent effort, and concentration upon a single objective are the ways you achieve your aims in life. You exercise great self-control, even self-denial, in order to accomplish what you desire. You meet obstacles stoically and will struggle patiently through difficult circumstances. You feel that you must rely on yourself alone, that it's all on your shoulders, and you can be a harsh disciplinarian, expecting far too much from yourself and others. Often you hold yourself back, doubting your own power and ability. You may feel that you meet great resistance whenever you try to assert yourself or take initiative, and that is very frustrating to you. However, you have the power of endurance and a dogged determination to overcome all obstacles.

Chapter 6: Other Influences

Jupiter in Scorpio:

Your strength lies in your unwillingness to settle for superficiality or shallowness in any area of your life. You are unafraid of going to extremes and experiencing the depths. The mysterious and the unknown are very attractive to you. Your intuitive understanding of others' inner drives and motivations is highly developed also.

Jupiter in 7th house:

You are a very sociable person, and you need to reach out and communicate with many different people. You are interested in what others can teach you and are drawn to those with more knowledge or breadth of experience than yourself. You expect a high level of integrity and sincerity from others and you do not tolerate pettiness or hypocrisy in your close friends or marriage partner.

You also need freedom and want a partner who will support your need to keep learning and growing, who will not limit you or set too many boundaries. Your marriage is likely to be very satisfying and rich.

Saturn in Libra:

You take your personal relationships so seriously that they may seem more like work, constant effort, and compromise, rather than a free and enjoyable sharing. You may feel that relationships in general require more of you than they are worth, and you enter into any close relationship cautiously and conscientiously. You also fear entrapment in close relationships.

Saturn in 7th house:

You take your commitments to others very seriously, especially in close one-to-one relationships. Your strong sense of responsibility to the other person makes you a trustworthy and dedicated partner, but you often feel that marriage or any binding commitment between yourself and another person is too restrictive and burdensome, and thus seek to avoid it. Close relationships may be more work than pleasure for you and it may seem that you are always "working on" your marriage rather than enjoying it. You will persevere and ultimately grow through the process, however.

Saturn Conjunct Pluto:

You are suspicious of groups, crowds, and social organizations. You are quick to notice social games and insincerities, and you avoid the limelight and glamour. You are direct and to the point in speech and manner, stubborn and inflexible, and often unwilling to communicate your innermost feelings and thoughts.

Uranus in Sagittarius:

You are part of a 7 year group of people who are extremely enterprising and forward-looking. You are optimists and explorers. Your age group shoots for the stars, figuratively and literally. Space exploration takes on new dimensions as your age group pushes fervently to the next frontier. There is a buoyant and youthful optimism and enthusiasm in your group, and you have your share of great discoveries as well as pipe dreams and disillusionment. The discoveries and contributions, however, are many, and more than compensate for the failures.

Uranus in 8th house:

Your life is characterized by sudden disruptions and events which change the direction of your life quite unexpectedly. You may be impatient and reckless at certain times, impulsively acting out your urge for new life and change. You are an emotionally complex person and you are capable of intense, unexpected outbursts of feelings and desires.

If you share material assets and resources with another person (as in a marriage or business partnership), your fortunes are likely to fluctuate wildly or change quickly for better or worse.

Neptune in Sagittarius:

You are part of a 14 year group of people that are extremely idealistic and farsighted in their dreams. Your age group is very liberal and expansive in outlook, and consequently churches become much more flexible and more eclectic in their approach during your life time. Religions that do not adapt to the broad-minded attitude of your age group simply are unable to attract very much interest and involvement from you.

A great deal of metaphysical musing and speculation is evident in your age group, and there is a very strong interest in all manner of psychic phenomena, UFO's, prophecy, etc. This interest will open many new doors and insights, but will also often lead to a great deal of fantasizing and speculation that is taken more seriously than it should be.

Neptune in 9th house:

You love to dream, fantasize, and speculate. You are willing to entertain the most far fetched ideas and philosophies, since to you anything is possible.

Anything exotic, alien, or faraway holds a great attraction for you. You can have very otherworldly beliefs which are quite impractical and irrelevant to your everyday existence.

Neptune Sextile Pluto:

The entire generation to which you belong has tremendous opportunities for spiritual rebirth and awakening. This will not be forced upon you or precipitated by unavoidable events, rather it comes from an inner yearning and a natural propensity to seek the depths.

Pluto in Libra:

You are part of a 12 year group of people who are deeply interested in personal relationships. Your age group has a deeply-rooted yearning to see people relating and communicating with each other effectively and harmoniously. There is little egotism and a willingness to hear the other person's side of the story and a readiness to compromise and arbitrate different points of view. In fact, the need for harmonious, peaceful relationships is so strong that there is a tendency to overlook real differences and to focus only on the similarities in an attempt to bring different parties into harmony with each other.

Interest in psychology and sociology is high in your age group. There is a tremendous heightening of awareness of social skills. Your age group will experiment with different marriage styles, family relationships, and even business relationships in an attempt to bring fair treatment and effective communication between people. Interest and appreciation for other cultures is also strong, and your age group will work hard to preserve and support the cultural heritage of all ethnic groups.

Your strong yearning for equitable and harmonious relationships is also reflected in major advancements in trade agreements, arms control, and international cooperation that are designed and implemented by your generation. These agreements and policies foster a much safer and more cooperative environment for all, although there is also a tendency for greedy individuals to take advantage of the conciliatory atmosphere and twist situations to their own ends.

In short, you are part of a generation of individuals who are deeply interested in other people; you are a humanistic and humanitarian group. You will struggle and experiment with personal relationships, and forge new models for how people can relate as friends, family members, and members of nations as well.

Pluto in 7th house:

Emotional intensity, compulsive attraction, and a sense of fate or destiny characterize your one-to-one relationships. It's as if you simply cannot have light, superficial relationships; they are inevitably profound, intense experiences which reveal your depths to you. You may be drawn to powerful, charismatic, willful people that challenge, thwart, and ultimately evoke your own power and strengths. Improving your relationships with others is likely to be the arena for your greatest growth.

It's just like, goddamn.

ALL THOSE THINGS FIT ANYONE AND THE THINGS WITH SLIGHT CONTRADICTIONS YOU IGNORED.

sorry caps locked woops.
yeah - research cold reading.  Astrology, i-ching, talk to dead relatives yada yada all relies on the ancient art of cold reading.  Not many people talk about it though they just make an industry out of it instead.

If you're still doubtful look into the fundamental mathematics of astrology - it was found to be mathematically erronous meaning you've got the wrong readings for your birthday anyway!

I'll give you a 90% plus accuracy page long reading without any astrology if you want?  Just to really prove my point.

^^^ I'm going to have to agree, I once gave an astrologer a fake birthday and it was just as accurate.
I still think astrology is useful for predicting current trends by paying attention to actual sidereal positions.

(tropical/traditional astrology is one sign off)

For example, Jupiter went direct last week after a long retrograde, the DowJones came back up to 10,000 points that same day.

The predictive power of things like astrology are due to their formality. By using a limited number of possible ambiguous predictions and applying an element of randomness to it, you get something that appears significant.

Here's an example.
We'll use a book that people subscribe significance to...lets say the Koran.

Now, take out all of the spaces and punctuation, and cram all of the letters together into one long stream of text.

Now, we'll give a significance to each of the different letters. For example, we'll let one letter mean gain, and one mean loss, another will mean time, while another means success, and so on and so on... Each of these letters having a quality that is compatible with any of the other characters, so that we may interpret the quality assigned for today's prediction via the two surrounding characters, and thus maintaining a balance between ambiguity and clarity.

Next we'll create a cyclical calendar that is divisible by the number of total characters in our book. For example, if there were 10,000 total characters, we could create a calendar consisting of 10 periods, each one being comprised of 10 smaller cycles of 100 days.

We'll use your birth date within the calendar as our starting point, and the date we are looking for a prediction on as our means of finding the proper character. Say you are born on the 415th day of our calender, and you are looking for your prediction for the 7005th day, you would simply start at the 415th character in the book, and roll through 7005 places to find your prediction for the day.

By limiting our possible predictions, and giving it a certain level of ambiguity via the interpretive quality of the surrounding characters you will always maintain the appearance of a certain degree of correct predictions. You can create any formal system like this you want, and it will always seem to have significance without a deeper inspection of whats really going on.

If you don't believe me, take some time, and try it for yourself. It's not magic, it's just the combination of our creative pattern seeking minds with a limited number of possible predictions, axiomatic guidelines, and a degree of chaos.

Right, but like I said, there are many kinds of astrology.
The most useful of which have nothing to do with a date of birth.

Read Cosmos and Psyche by Richard Tarnas.  I'm nearly finished and I highly recommend it if you're interested in astrology, the course of humanity, or the study of archetypes

--------------------
Jumped in a river, what did I see?
Black eyed angels swimming with me
Moon full of stars and astral cars, all the figures I used to see
All my lovers were there with me
All my past and all my futures
We went to heaven in a little rowboat
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

Right, but like I said, there are many kinds of astrology.
The most useful of which have nothing to do with a date of birth.

It's not about anyones date of birth, it's about probability distribution and it's relation to formal logic.

I understand what you're saying but after years of practice I am nearly convinced that there is more to it.
Nothing to do with the effects of the planets themselves but something to do with the hologrammatic nature of reality.

Potent quotes:

"...perhaps there is a pattern set up in the heavens for one who desires to see it, and having seen it, to find one in himself." - Plato

"The very first thing which we would like to clarify is that both the Tarot and the Zodiac are not external phenomena. They are not "out there" and should be considered living essences or archetypes within each individual. You are a living, breathing zodiac." - M. Tsarion

"Know that the philosopher has power over the stars, and not the stars over him." - Paracelsus

"As long as you still experience the stars as something above the head you lack the eye of knowledge." - Fredrick Nietzsche

"...when the planets of the Solar System are named or symbolized...it must not be supposed that the planetary bodies themselves are referred to, except as types on a purely physical plane of the septenary nature of the psychic and spiritual worlds." - Madame Helena Petrovna Blavatsky

"It is an erroneous interpretation of astrology to opine that special forces emanate from the planets and the stars." - R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz

"As we all know science began with the stars, and mankind discovered in them the dominants of the unconscious, the "gods," as well as the curious psychological qualities of the Zodiac: a complete projected theory of human character." – Carl Gustav Jung

My screenname is based on astrology.  I dunno...I kind of believe in it, but I wouldn't bet any money on it.  It's one of those ideas that I like to entertain as a possibility, and I intuitively feel like there's something there, but I don't consider it worth arguing over.  I would say that if there is something there, it probably has more to do with synchronicity than direct causation.

blewmeanie,

You especially should check out the book I suggest in the above post.  The author is a philosopher and professor, and approached the topic with a healthy amount of skepticism - he recounts the whole background in the beginning of the book.

Cheers

Jumped in a river, what did I see?
Black eyed angels swimming with me
Moon full of stars and astral cars, all the figures I used to see
All my lovers were there with me
All my past and all my futures
We went to heaven in a little rowboat
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

Shroomism, Do you have a link to the site where you got that information? Can we do our own birthdays?

Incidentally, Shroomism, it looks like you and I are both about to hit our Saturn Return.  Supposedly one of the biggest transition points in one's life.
