Serious side effects from improperly growing shroo

I'm a newbie at this. I've read the faq but didn't answer my question. Are there any serious side effects from improperly growing shrooms? I know that I have to follow the instructions very carefully, but since it would be my first time growing, it would be very dangerous if i, say for example, harvested earlier than should be or harvested too late. My second question what would happen if the syringe or my water wasn't sterile enough? With both of these questions in mind would I get serious heath problems, perhaps death from ingesting it, by improperly growing the shrooms?

you are safe unless you introduce some deadly contaminant and let it grow with your shrooms. not too likely to happen. just throw out shit when you notice contamination. i throw out the whole jar when i get a contam in one. not worth opening it up and releasing spores.

You can't harvest too early or too late.  The only thing that would cause some type of fatal reaction to a mushroom would be if it were contaminated.  There is a great forum here that only discusses contamination and how to avoid it.  There are also plenty of FAQs that help to identify popular contaminants.  Be wary of any odd colors or smells.

The unsterile syringe leads back to contaminants.  Read up on contaminants.  You probably also shouldn't take to much if you are currently on MAOI's.  Read, read, read.  Good luck  :wink:

My doctor said that I have high blood pressure and I'm taking a pill to keep it low. Should I go ahead and grow and make a little concentration from the spores so I won't get the full stimulant effect? Because I know that mushrooms increases blood pressure a lot.

The doc gave me a cardio test and its above normal. I'm taking Toprol-Xl to lower the blood pressure, to keep at a normal level. Do shrooms give you anxiety and sleepiness?

That is a seriouse heart medication. I don't think you should do the mushies....

Your right I probably would worry. Who knows I probably would get a heart attack. I'll have to stick to my ol' kaleidosocope for visual effects. Thanks everyone for the info.

I would not recommend taking mushrooms with any type of heart medication.

Sometimes they give you anxiety, but they certainly don't put you to sleep (maybe after the trip).
I would search http://www.erowid.org/ for interactions with the drug your taking; also let it be known that is obvious that you need to brush up on your reading.

Yes, as long as you have this condition, try to steer clear from any type of stimulant. The knowledge of your condition may in and of itself cause a bad trip.

toprol-XL does not exist in the UK, so i can't be 100%, but it's almost certainly a tradename for the beta-blocker metoprolol.

Beta blockers are given out like sweets by some doctors once you get the 'high blood pressure' label. Depending on your age, and whether you have other risk factors -lots of salty food, no exercise, smoking, overweight, stressed ..... you may be able to sort your BP out without the need for any tablets. What was the 'cardio test'? Did you have to run on a treadmill? Sometimes metoprolol is given for funny heart rhythms, or even for pains in the chest: if this is you, STOP!

metoprolol and all beta blockers can cause hallucinations, tiredness and nightmares (tho metoprolol works more on the heart and less on the brain than most of them), so it'd certainly make sense to get off these drugs before you get onto anything else. I agree that the added anxiety could precipitate a bad trip.

I can almost guarantee that if you have knowledge of your condition and you eat mushrooms, its gonna send you in a downward spiral... once those thoughts come into your head, its hard to come back. And a bad trip is nothing more than really bad anxiety which.. leads to panic.. and when you panic on shrooms, who knows where you will end up when you come down.

There are better alternatives to a keleidoscope... check this out

but if you want an anxiety free trip try the mexi-cub from the hawk's eye. they are the most anxiety free mushies we have ever eaten. pure goodness every time :cool:

Shirley, the doc gave me toprol because I was getting fast heart beats and palpitations (irregular heart beats skipping). I don?t get it quite as often a day as I used to. I haven?t gotten any hallucinations from taking it.

I was diagnosed with WPW (Wolf Parkinson White Syndrome) when I was 25 (I'm 29 now) which fucks with the electrical impulses to your heart but have never had any problems whatsoever with shrooms. In fact I've probably had WPW all my life without realizing it and I've taken just about every substance possible (apart from crack or heroin, cokes nice though!) and not run into any problems. Of course everyones individual so what works for me might be bad for someone else so it's ENTIRELY your call. I wouildn't like to think that someone following my advice might have an adverse affect on their life..

As I said it's ENTIRELY your call.

i like to eat about 4 grams of the mexi-cub. they do me 7-10 hrs of a mellow happy high. i would plan to be awake at least 6 hrs on any shroommie you might take. and in no way am i promissing you that your health is not at risk as you know your health better than i. i am NOT a m.d. and do not know how different strains may effect your blood pressure, heart rate,body temps.ect.  with that said i can't sing the praise of the mexi-cub high enough for a mellow time. this is one kind musroom. and ya T.H.E. is out of a lot of strains right now. i would just send them my cash with a note to get me some asap. :wink:  and try to kick those pharms. peace
