mycilium stopped growing

HI all,

here's the scenario,
I have 6 jars of PF that are 6 weeks old. 1 has turned completely white while 5 of them remain half way finished. They have been growing in a dimly light room in 65 degrees. They have effectively stopped growing since week 4.


Here's what I have tried.
They have been since moved to a room with 75-80 degrees and have been flipped upside-down to promote CO2 exchange.
Since I moved them, dew drops began to appear on the inside of the jars. But no growth has happened. it has been 5 days.

What other things should I try to get these guys to grow again.

Hopefully upping the temp will be enough. Keep it at around 80-85 in complete darkness, and good luck! :smile:

The smallest fish tank heaters I have seen are about the size of a ruler so I got a hot rock. Im now looking for info on how to use it. I hear that the air gets really dry...

I can't help you cause I've never seen any info on the subject myself, but I'd imagine that if you placed your heat rock in a cooler, then placed a couple of clean towels on top of the rock, then your jars on top of the towels, you should be fine, but don't take my word as law cause I don't have any experience with it.

6 weeks?  Wow.  Make sure you keep your jars in an environment with an average temp of 80.  I also don't think "dimly lit" is good enough.  The myc likes it's privacy during the colonization phase, try to keep them in a mostly dark area.

The only way to see if the mycelium will respond to the temperature change is to wait.  It may have stopped due to your last temperature.  Wait it out.  :wink:

The rock doesnt have a smooth top and isn't that big. Do you think the towels would singe and burn? Heat rocks are used to heat terrarium for lizards and such.

I have no clue, but I think if it'd burn towels, it'd burn lizards.    Why not just go return the damn heat rock and get an aquarium heater, so you can be cool like the rest of us, heheh. :wink:
