Vermiculite
    #1126776 - 12/09/02 11:20 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

Today I drove to my local garden center and bought some vermiculite, but it is a very fine grade. What changes should I make to the water amount? Should I just return it and try another store? Anyway as a side note I bought a mushroom ID book and picked some Cyanescens (psilocybe not pan). Too bad I can't eat em' got work early tommorow.

I would give it a try. I had to use coarse vermiculite once. I would make sure your Brown rice is well grounded up, into small powdery-like particles. That way it fully covers the vermiculite particles. If it is flower like then it will stick well to the vermiculite. You might try grinding it in a cofee blender, although I can smell the motor burning already. Goodluck.

Actually I DID grind it myself. Thanks man, I'll give it a shot.

I have very fine grade vermiculite, and it's just......fine (pun intended). Fine vermiculite can hold more water then coarser brands, which I think is a plus. It definently helps during fruiting.
