You're an engineering major, who happens to use a lot of math.  I'm getting my masters in Economics - it's 98% mathematical.  This does not imply that I am a math major, only that I use math.

Unless at your school engineering & mathematics are one in the same? :shrug:



I'm not trying to criticize you (anymore.  I was earlier, but I was high & bored).  Now i'm just intrigued.

And I've only ever played farmtown.  for some reason my mac doesn't run it as well as my pc back home did.  It doesn't matter much anymore as I've got studies to attend to.

Nope, sorry, not the same at all.

I'm a math major, my buddy is an engineering major, he had to take some of the same classes I did but it isn't the same.

I question the validity of that spreadsheet.

The value of grapes is clearly higher.  Plus, what are you going to do, harvest and plant more tomatoes every 8 hours?
Grapes once every 23 hours is clearly better than tomatoes 3 times every 24 hours.
I think your spreadsheet doesn't take into account that the growing cycle for day-long crops is actually 23 hours, not 24 hours.

I used to play more often.  Now that I've run out of money to spend on things, I usually just plant the most profitable 2-day crop (currently cabbage at my level 29).  This prevents me from playing for 2 days at a time and I still rake in the cash for when the land expansions are released.

Not efficient, but I don't waste nearly as much time if I don't have to harvest, plow, plant every 4 hours.

how do you figure it's 23 hours?

plus i have it as profit/hour. You can do things like plant grapes, then tomatoes, then grapes again.  Notice the experience is more that way as well.  2xp in 8 hours, vs 3xp in 24

Because it is 23 hours.  I've read it on several sites and I think on the Farmville page on Facebook, they changed things to 23 hour cycles a while ago.

Don't believe me, plant something that takes a day to grow, it will be ready 23 hours later.  Plant something at 5, it'll be ripe at 4 the next day.  I think its so that people aren't constantly losing time by harvesting/plowing/seeding.
