All but one of the anthropology Professors (including assistant and adjuncts) at my university--I'm an anthro major--have a facebook. Odd, I almost never use it, but a few of them If I want their attention I need to send them a message on facebook instead of an email. Further, there is one who changes her picture on it daily. The funny thing is she is the type of person who has 6million pictures of herself all at slightly different angels.

Damn, what a slow friday night. =]

Do/did you have professors who use facebook? Use of facebook and other social networking sites far out ranks any other solitary-leisure activity that college students partake in.

Haha, thats crazy... I had a few teachers who had a myspace page but they never used it and supposedly they were set up by a female friend  :whatever:

I've had teachers who have had them. And it was kind of weird but if you needed to ask them something it was very easy to get a hold of them. Facebook is a miracle for school needs.

I like posting ideas and sometimes going back and forth on the internet, as far as socially connecting goes, but nothing beats face to face. I don't like facebook personally, but I use it to keep in touch with friends from around the world and my homeboys from time to time.

I don't like facebook. I just joined a couple months ago and I expected it to be more like a shroomery type thing. No one talks about anything. Everyone just has a list of stupid comments or routine questions on their walls. Why don't they put some damn forums in it?

Heh, I just got a message on Facebook from someone I work with that my pay check was in. A lot of younger professionals use FaceBook for communication. That and gchat.

Seems unprofessional to use facebook for things like that why cant you just email a professor.  Facebook not meant for getting in touch with prof IMO

the whole idea of facebook is that its unprofessional. it's supposed to just be conversations among friends...pretty stupid way to use it, prof :uptosomething:

I finally recently deleted mine.  The only thing I miss is being able to pop onto a computer and show my friends pictures from other people's pages.  :shrug:  If you're actually IN school I could see it being more valuable though. :lol:

i had a teach that posted a bio in the staff inform. section of the communications site with a picture of him dressed as the guy from fear and loathing. You know, with the whie hat, cop shades, and cigarette holder? gee, wonder why me and this dude got along so well? lol. I never crossed the bridge into drug convo with him, but we did get drunk tiwce a week after class at 2 pm. He acctually changed his office hours location to the bar! (it was closer than his office to!) Fuck all of you that think being old and in a university is wierd. Grown ups have fun to :wink:

Yeah, you do get some shit from the youngins. I'm only 23 and I feel old in undergrad. That's why I spend a lot of time with the PhD students on campus.
