Big Ole Pan Subs! (Hopefuly)

Hey Guys ! New to this sport, finding it very enjoyable. I went hunting the other day in the NKY area. (We had some good rains the past couple days) And i came across what seem to be some huge pan subs.

Habitat:
Found in yards.
Gills:
Dark brown, close together, looks like their attached to the stem.

Stem: varies from 2-3 inches.

Cap:
2-3 inches in diameter. Sun circles on the top when fresh, now they are all mostly just completely light brown, with a darker brown center.

Spore print color:
Jet Black

Bruising:
None observed.

Lacrymaria velutina, site says spore print is dark brown?
These are very jet black.

Lacrymaria velutina can have a black print.

I'm looking at Lacrymaria velutina right now.
And the fresh caps looks nothing like ones i've been finding. They seem to be just Light brown.
The ones i've been finding are dark brown with circles on the cap.

That's what's called a hygrophanous reaction. Many saptrotrophic fungi have this and the area the reaction starts on (if I recall correctly) can be used as an identifying factor. That being so, if you were to compare the rings on the subbs and the alleged Lacrymaria velutina you have there they would look different.

They're pretty variable.  I can tell you you do not have Panaeolus cinctulus and I'm 99% sure you have Lacrymaria velutina.

I don't blame him.  I wish I could better explain why they arn't subbs. 

Maybe better pics of the stem and gills would help.:shrug:

i dont really think u should explain much. you're a TI for gods sake. I dont blame the kid either for wanting to trip ballz of some shrooms, more power to him, but usually when a TI says NO twice, theyre right.

just my honest opinion.

I meen yea we all make mistakes, but thats what the TI tag is for mainly.

No, not all people have done that.  It's a matter of personality, and no one can claim all personalities are the same.

That's not a jet black print, either.  The reason people call subb's print jet black is to distinguish it from the lookalikes that simply print black; subb's print are devoid of any color or light.
