Stalled Bulk Sub Advice??

Hey,

Any suggestions to jump start a Bulk that seems stalled? 

Warm it up, maybe? Mulch and add more Bulk? 

Anything?

Does this happen often? 

I don't get it.  It was tremendously healthy, myc growing aggressively up the side of the tub.  Then over 2 days the myc went flat and looks totally lifeless.

No Contams what-so-ever though.

There's contams my friend!  SOMETHING IS IN THERE.  Raising the temp will only speed up the "inevitable".  "Does this happen often"...... ONLY WHEN CONTAMINANTS ARE PRESENT.  Time to start over. :sorry:  If you have the "resources", put that tub aside and let it do it's thing... that way you can use it as an "experiment" while you continue on a new grow.  Don't waste your time waiting on it..... move on.

So, by what you say, more sub won't help... If there are in fact contams in there.

There is still some Myc growth around the sides(up the sides), but 95% looks dead.

this is a very large mono-tub.  It was kept at 99% humidity at about 67-72 degrees since birth.

Don't mean to be a bug, just frustrated... Was A LOT of work as you all know.

No amount of ANYTHING will remedy the situation when Contaminants are present.  As far as it being a large Monotub.... I understand your frustration.  In the future..... Maybe break it down to several "manageable" tubs.  If one tub goes south then you have others to fall back on.

w/o pics, I would guess your bulk was too wet. its better to run them a bit on the dry side than a bit on the wet side.

I'm not quite convinced on the wet substrate idea.  I've made that mistake once or twice and what typically happens is that excess water will make its way to the bottom portion of the tub.  THAT SECTION won't colonize, (and lend itself to contamination.  The upper half of the tub will colonize without a problem.  That's just my experience with an overly wet substrate.

My last tub was waterlogged beyond any concept of 'field capacity'. I had about 30-40% colonization on the surface and it started pinning/fruiting. Mean green decided to pay me a visit shortly after.

Contaminated bulk substrates can be tossed outside in a shady spot and will eventually produce mushrooms.

Here we go....

BULK Straw/Poo/Coffee etc.



Potato shreads/Straw etc.(didn't look good from the begining anyway)


I've got some corn husks and silk shreaded with some cobs to pasturize and add to a semi/outdoor thing(Outdoor in the days, Indoor at night) if they are sunk for sure.


Still at 99-100 humidity
still at 70 degrees.
