opinions wanted

a friend of mine a few blocks away came to me and asked me to fix his roof.
upon completion we went inside his house as he said he wanted to talk about
some things.
he is wanting to start a carpet cleaning buisness and wanted me to be partners in it.
he has all the equiptment already. not wal-mart shit but industrial commercial equiptment.
and service truck ready to go.
he went further and offered me to stay with him and his wife rent free.
well yesterday i go to their house to make my usual sunday rounds and they have
a room prepared with a twin bed, a dresser, tv(with cable) a computer(with internet)
and they even threwe in two microscopes and a acoustic guitar.
its way to much way to fast for my brain to process.
im almost paranoid of the situation but i dont think their intentions are decieving.
they do however want me to make some much needed repairs to the house.
so i guess i would be pulling my weight by saving them money.

they are giving me a chance to get out of my ex-wifes house
and theyre cool with me having a grow in my room and ill have digital camera
well i said
what would you do?

Well, I would be apprehensive about moving in.

You are talking about working together.

Do you really want to have a live-in boss?

I understand that you're friends, but things like occupations and living arrangements have ways of interfering with friendships.

I lived with my boss once and I wouldn't do it again. My situation was tolerable, so it can be done. It sounds like this guy genuinely wants to help you, I would do it if you have to. It is nice to know there are still some good people out there.

I lived with my boss, i met him at work and we both needed to move so we did. It was no problem at all. We even became roomies again two years after he moved out the first time. Now he's asking me if he can rent my spare bedroom at my new place. lol, i dont think the guy has ever signed a lease.

Does he have any experience as an entrepreneur? Do you? If there's gonna be business troubles, they're likely going to affect your private life. I wouldn't do it, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you shouldn't.

yes he has experience.
after hurricane katrina and rita we made alot of money in mississippi,new orleans,and
metarie.
it was somewhat of a hassle dealing with FEMA and the insurrance companies but
definatly worth it overall.
we were doing everything though not cleaning carpets.

In addition to living with your boss, and mixing business with your personal life, it also looks like you have pretty subjective rent terms.

You might think you're pulling your weight in repairs and upkeep.  What if he thinks you aren't doing enough?
