im starting my grow in early october, i am beyond excited...been on this site for atleast 2 hours every day writing down shit lol!

doing a WBS spawn bulk grow into a coir/horse manure substrate....pretty stoked about that!

got a ton of prints from you awesome people!

B+, Golden Teacher, Cambodian, Oak Ridge, Costa Rican, Na Muang

well...just figured id post this cause i am really bored and really excited lol.

expect a grow log from me in early october!

i am getting my set up made and ready.
just need a couple more things.
having a hard time getting syringes.
where is a non-online place i can get inoculating loops?
or can i use something else?

i just use a knife.  You could also use a piece of wire looped onto a piece of wood

i guess i will got get a wire and stick it in wood.

just scrape the spores with the knife it works fine for me.  I wouldn't suggest using water on your print you will probably end up conaiminating the print

i always used distilled water.:thumbup:
would it still get contams?
even in a glove box with sterilized stuff?

the water is contamination haven anytime you use water no mater the purity or sterility you are asking for bacteria and ohter nastiness to come on in.  You are providing a breedign ground.  just use a knife or a homemade loop

You could try but you would have to let the print dry again.

Not sure how often spores can be re-hydrated/re-dried before becoming null. Any remaining wet spores left on the print that is.

Why not just use a knife or bent wire as suggested?

There will literally be millions of spores scraped off so any damaged will be greatly out numbered by the good.

and all this hassle.  even if you use the water the spores aren't going to fall off the foil cause you added some water.  Have you ever used a print before?  The spores are kinda stuck to the foil or whatever they are on.

hey elementswrath-
i think they were confused as to what you wanted to do with the print.
from thier advice, i gather that they assumed you wanted to inoculate agar with the spores, that's why they were steering you away from using water??, but I THINK you were asking advice about making a syringe. if that is so, then you were correct in assuming you could pour a little water onto the print, but then you need something to stir up the spores off of the print surface- i have always used the needle tip, even though i have heard it is frowned upon, you could always just get a box of plain paperclips, bend a few into a straight wire with a loop on the end, wrap in foil or dump into a jar and pressure cook it.- :thumbup: hope this helps!

Amen, I just finished making syringes and lc out my first spore prints (which are from truskool). Those suckers were stuck on there even after squirting water on the print to put the whole thing in a shot glass 


And btw rocknrave I feel your excitement. I'm just starting a grow similar to yours :smile:
