Im feeling generous!

So I want to get better known in this community as well as respected.  Now what I was thinking of doing was to ask all of you what strain is most desired so I can get them, grow some, and make prints to give away.

So I ask you, is this possible and if so what would be the most desired one?

(Hope this thread is not shooting myself in the foot tho)

Definitely a mexicana that produces sclerota. I would do almost anything to get a hold of some of those spores!

i didn't mention it but i would LOVE a print of that. but to answer the origional question...almost any cube would be traded quite well.

Well as for sclerotium, looks like I will have to go hunting in these Texas corn/wheat fields for it.  So far doing some research on sclerotium (never knew of it till now lol)  I found,

Once the fungus becomes established in the florets, it grows throughout the embryos and replaces them, later producing the dark sclerotia. Many sclerotia fall to the ground before harvest and overwinter on the soil surface, serving as potential sources of spores the following year.
Sclerotia produced in small grain fields or grassy areas fall to the ground and survive on the surface of the soil. In the spring and early summer, the sclerotia germinate to produce tiny mushroom-like bodies approximately the size of a pin. Spores (ascospores) formed by a sexual process in these bodies are shot into the air, and wind currents may carry them to grain heads.

Is this what you are talking about?

Good Idea!! I'll make a poll once I have more input on what to look for, so I have better options on the poll.

I do not know ALL the different kinds of strains nor the more desired ones, but am willing to do the work to get which ever one is chosen! :grin:

no that sounds like ergot. Sclerotia are hardened mycelial masses that grow under the ground (or in rye/WBS) they taste like nuts and give a "clear headed" high

sclerotia is in certain psilocybe mushrooms such as Jalisco and mex-a.  A sclerotia is a hard solid mass that grows underground.  These masses do contain psilocybe.  So they are easy to grow for beginers as you can just leave them in a jar and it produces the sclerotia.  One thing ppl have failed to metion to you is the fact that sclerotia producing mushrooms can be a bitch to fruit.  This is one of the reasons that the prints are so sought after.

Yes you can use the sclerotia to get high.  You can also use it to start new cultures of the shroom.  I havent tried it yet as I dont eat shrooms very often.  So I have no clue as to what the high is like.

Well I am doing alot of research on this and I am finding that sclerotia is a VERY broad description, I have found alot on it and how there are MANY different kinds.  When I looked up Sclerotium with mycelium I found Sclerotium rolfsii with mycelial.  I am about to pull my heair, but I will find this.

Do you all have the full latin word for it?  The Mexicalis, does that grow alot in Mexico? Or does it have the name for another reason?

"Synchronous formation of sclerotia in Sclerotium rolfsii was induced in both solid and liquid synthetic media. Sclerotial initials were formed when mycelium was forced to pass from the submerged to the aerial growth phase in one of the following ways: (i) by removal of aerial mycelium with a scalpel; (ii) by growing the mycelium under a cover glass which was later removed; (iii) by inverting the agar in a Petri dish containing the fungal culture; (iv) by pouring a layer of agar over a colony. In all cases hyphae which emerged from the submerged phase produced many sclerotia synchronously. When grown in shaken liquid culture S. rolfsii did not produce any sclerotia while submerged, but when samples of the shaken culture were poured into a Petri dish 50 to 90 h after inoculation and incubated further, sclerotial initials were formed synchronously within 16 h on the liquid surface."

Like I said they are very hard to fruit.  You can use the sclerotia to start new cultures, but that would be against the law(shipping or selling sclerotia)  They are very beginer friedly upto the point of fruiting.  You can leave the jars alone for a few months and harvest and trip off of the sclerotia, without fruiting.

people are leaving out pretty important details.  Like stone producers are hard to fruit.  Hard to fruit would mean hard to  print.  They arent hard to  print but to get the shrooms to print off of is hard.  Any albino(true) does not release spores too tough so they are hard to print.  Anything penis is hard to print and most ppl trade swabs.  There are exceptions to these things though as in the case of Albino A+(which is not a true albino) it produces purple spores a true albino produces white spores and Penis Envy #6 can be printed pretty easy.

So when I go and get spores (if true are even sold) I do i know what I am getting?  Or is it just my own gamble lol

I guess the spores in the syringe would be white?

Ok next question, with me and all of you, and how we are a bit paranoid....how long should I wait till its ok/safe to trade?

I mean we got awhile cuz I still need spores myself lol, but I dont want to get fed in the A just like none of you

No you dont know until they fruit.  Go with a reputable vendor here and you will be fine.  I don't know about the trade thing I started as soon as I got here.  Also you don't have any spores yet?  PM me and I will hook you up.

Well, if you wanna do a mass giveaway, then I'm sure people would enjoy PE swabs or albinos.  But other than that, I'd be interested in stuff I don't see often like Redspore, Blue Meanie, Pink Buffalo, or Dancing Tiger.

Realistically, stuff that people would want like sclerotia producers, non cubes, real PE prints and albinos aren't really the best thing to do a big giveaway.
