This is pretty bad ass even though it was probably over kill. But I doubt they'll have to deal with another robber now that it's all over the news haha.

Holy crap. Detectives are still interviewing a Johns Hopkins University student who fatally lacerated the upper body of a man breaking into his off-campus residence overnight. The suspect also suffered a nearly-severed hand, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The house is home to four undergrads who had already had a Sony PlayStation and two laptops stolen earlier on Monday.

So when one of the students heard noises at about 1am, he went to downstairs to investigate armed with the sword. He saw that the side door to their garage had been pried open, and inside, the suspect lunged at him.

The guy probably didn't deserve to die, but Police have confirmed he has priors for breaking and entering.

Fuck you Americans are loose!

We'd get locked up for killing someone even if they were on our property.  They have to make the first shot or actually hit you before you're allowed to defend yourself.

Who has the better system?  Who knows?

Hey in my neck of the woods an intruder is going to be met with a short barrel shotgun with a mag full of buck shot. I think meeting an intruder with a katana is no where near too much force....

The intruder was probably a crack-head. The student should have subdued him without killing him though. Crazy world man.

1st degree murder? You realize that means it was premeditated right? Like as in he planned it all out and knew who he was killing.

Sounds like what happened here is the guy went out to make sure his shit wasn't being jacked, brought a sword, had the burglar attack him, and hit him twice with the sword. He must have severed a major artery because the guy died. Too bad so sad.

What weapon do you take with you when you go out into your backyard in the middle of the night, knowing some creep is rummaging through your shit?

Do you assume that he is not armed, while he goes around all night committing home invasions?

Do you hit him with your weapon when he attacks you? Cause I sure as fuck do.

I've been in a similar situation but the guy's ran off when they seen me coming down the stairs with the sword and my roomate with a double edged replica battle axe....

The guy lunged at him on his property, he was properly defending himself.

but that fag heard somthing so grab the sword

allready knowing that he was gonna attack the burgular

so thats 1st degree murder dumb nutz but the probklem is no one can prove it

but that fag premeditated that he was gonna go down there and chop at some burglers

the burguler never even tryed to attck this guy i bet since when would a crack head robbing some ones house attack them i dont think so

and i woulda took my berreta stuffed in my boxers and had that fag leave me his id and tell him get the fuck outa here

you use the term "fag" very loosely, therefore you are an idiot and have no credibility in your statement. Not everyone has a pistol to intimidate the guy and have them leave their possessions. If a robber comes into my home, there is pretty much a 95% chance that they are armed. If you are gonna fuck with someone, beware of the consequences. perhaps he didn't have to die, but it's the risk he took and I think we can all agree that breaking into someones house will leave that person with an awareness of potentially being shot/attacked/arrested or killed by defense.
