Tyvek for mono tub?
    #11063251 -

Hi guys I was wondering if I could RTV some pieces of tyvek to my mono tub instead of using polifill? Or do I need polifill for more airflow through the tub? Thanks

Contaminants are not the important issue when introduction to fruiting has occurred. By this time the mycelium should be at 100% colonization and is therefore quite able to fend for itself and kick most contaminates asses.

At the fruiting stage you need to concentrate on these five things:

1) 100% colonization.

2) Fresh Air Exchange, (FAE)

3) Evaporation of moisture from the substrates surface

4) 99% humidity

5) Light (the brighter the better. 6500k)

Tyvek is cool for the colonization, but you'll want to replace it with polyfil for fruiting.

You can use Tyvek for a monotub. You may get low humidity around the holes, so doubling up is an option if needed.

Just tape it bro. Don't RTV it. It works great for colonization of tubs but RTV IMHO would be a little overkill when masking, packing, painters, micropore or duct tape will work fine.

You want polyfil for fruiting.
Tyvek is great for GE, gas exchange. But it limits FAE, Fresh Air Exchange.
The search engine can give you hundreds of pages on either, but the long and short of it is this: there's no real reason to mess with tyvek for monotubs.
Tape over the holes for colonization, then polyfil or open holes for fruiting.

You make it all possible. Doesn't it feel good?
