Phase 2, and other abusive institutions

There is probably one in every county and town in America. In my own it was called Phase 2, an underfunded state project where juveniles and troubled teens are sent to be tortured into learning obedience for obedience's sake. The sort of place who's motto was "fake it till you make it" and which substituted sufficient funding by constantly harassing and terrorizing students into a state of fear.

The sort of place the Zappa's and Bauchman's of the world would appreciate, as it embodies the ideas of authoritarianism and fiscal discipline. Indeed a very close friend of mine defended the project, arguing that the teems are suicidal, and hence need the most extreme of disciplinary punishments used against them.

Republicans in fact have a history of starting or supporting underfunded public projects so they can point to them latter to demonize government projects in general.

However what these people do not consider is the effects. Anyone who comes out of this type of institution is likely to end up being an ardent, fanatical right-winger/libertarian/Republican, distrusting of any social projects in general, and more then willing to go the extra mile to oppose their perceived persecutors among the liberal "elite", especially those involved in public education.
