not sure if i did somehing wrong- myc

i'm planning on birthing my cakes tonight but now i'm not so sure... they have been fully colonized for 1 week now (i read that you want to let them stay in about a week after they are fully colonized) but they still don't look this cake from the PF site. I definitely have mycellium growing and not cobweb but mine just doesn't look as "fluffy" i guess as theres does, although the myc has definetly taken over the whole jar... Should i birth the cakes or throw em back in the incubator?



sorry i don't have a camera or i'd post pics of what my cakes look like... it's not they are bad or anything, they just don't look like the one in the pic.

I can't totally agree with putting them back in the incubator.. Different strains of myc look different, they r ALL white, but some is more (fluffy) than others.. If there is no visible signs of substrate left, then you should be totally fine birthing your cakes..I also suggest coldshocking/dunking your cakes before u put them in the grow chamber... Hope this helps a little

birth it. A lot of times your problem is caused by a high co2 buildup. If you birth into a ter, you should see a ton of fluffy white mycelium within a couple of days. As long as the cake is almost entirely colonized, you shouldn't have a problem with contams, and there is no reason not to birth it.

Why incubator?
If it?s fully colonized, then it needs room temperature and some light, not an incubator....
