question about spores?
    #1101697 -

I have like 6 spre syreinges full and they are about 2 to 3 months old. Is it ok to still use them? Thanks!

I'm afraid your spores have turned poisonous.
You see, all mushroom spores are good and usable for about the first month and a half. After this time, they transform into little rockets that will fly down your throat and shoot out the inside of your stomach if you try to grow them. Better luck next time..

They're fine. Grow them and quit cross posting honkey.

In what conditions were they kept in? If the syringes were kept in your room in your drawer than I am afraid to tell you that they are dead. Spore syringes stored at room temperature rarely last longer than a month.

Spore prints on the other hand can last up to a year at room temperature.

I have used spore syringes stored at room temperature that are over 6 months old. These syringes worked just fine. So go for it.

And spore prints that are kept absolutely dry at room temperature can last well over 3 years in my experience.

Well I still see those bloack dots in the needles which i know is the spores, but could they be dead anyways? And would it help if I put it in the fridge or something? Or would you all just recomend me getting new ones to be safe? Thanks!

The black "dots" are only larger clusters of spores. You don't need to see this for your syringe to be in good health. Also, what exactly were the conditions that your syringes were kept in?

Well there's only one way (excluding microscopy) to tell if they are still viable, try them out, only make one test jar for each syringe. If mycelium grows, then they are good, if not, oh well.

I like the idea about testing it out on one jar, nice thinkin. Do you think I should keep them in the fridge untill i'm ready to use them? Does this help, and if so how long can i keep them in the fridge?

They can last in the fridge for an extremely long time.
