New Mexico Boletes

Hello,

Just thought I would share some photos found on a foray that I took in the southwest.



This one was peaking out from a rock:






They were of mostly good quality:








There was even evidence of perhaps squirrels having their way with the little pigs:



There were roughly a 115 taken today although the next picture shows only roughly half:


Even the larger ones were maggot free!

No, some chunks had been eaten at by perhaps slugs on the caps but I was able to just cut those parts out.

That's it, I'm moving to New Mexico!  What kind of trees are you finding them with down there?  What elevation?  Does porcini season normally start this late?

Very cool, I have heard that Boletes grow there but these are the first pictures I have seen.

Since you are in NM perhaps you can look for this newly discovered species?

They seem to grow under conifers in general and they tend to fruit later or basically whenever the rain comes.

As for psychedelics, I can't say I am all that interested in fungi(I like cacti more) but, it would be interesting to look for a newly discovered species...

Anyway, I forgot to mention that there are also white king boletes, butter boletes and red butter boletes that I have found from time to time as well.

Freudian, penis, bolete:

Honest, the only cock I've ever sucked was a king bolete cock. I can't help it when they are so bulbous.
