I was just saying I read as many post and faqs as I can and yes I am growing bulk but with wbs and barley straw with cow dung and also straight horse dung and even buried straw with cow out side my house I have eight strains going right now and the sad fact is I only have a 40 percent survival but I have plenty to grow so I am feeling optimistic. I was just saying that I seen a post I wanted to read because I try to read all the relevant ones but it would not let me because I have not made enough posts and that was why I was leaving a post. I wish every thing was open for every one. I dont leave many posts because i am not enough experienced to give help but I dont ask many questions either because I know the answers are  out there if I look.

Alright guys thanks for all your support.
Im gunna do a step by step and you can fill in any holes. Anything in parenthesis is a question i need answered.

Step 1 : Soak wild bird seed for 8-12 hours, rinse well, then fill 1 pint (or quart?) jars 3/4 full. Place coffee filter (can i use coffee filters instead of another type of filter if needed?) then lid with 2 holes. After pressure cooking for at least an hour at 15 pounds, let cool over night, transfer to glovebox, inoculate. Let colonize.

Step 2 : Create a substrate of 1 Brick Coir, 1 quart Coffee grinds, 1 quart Vermiculite, 1 cup gypsum by boiling (or just in hot water?)the coir in 1 gallon of water, and then adding in the rest. Let cool overnight (after it becomes thick??? or once all the ingrediants are in?) in a bucket. (important question : Will this fill a monotub? If not, how many of these will i have to do to fill one monotub up 4 inches?)

Step 3 : Create a fruiting chamber out of a large monotub bin, cutting 4 holes about 6 or 7 inches from bottom, stuff with polyfil. 2 holes on top to allow for circulation.

step 4 : Fill the tub with substrate 4 inches, then add colonized bird seed (should i shake the birdseed while its colonizing?), making a 1 (or 2?) inch bird seed layer on top of the substrate. Then add another 1 inch of substrate on top of that. (how long do i set that aside to colonize for?)

step 5 : Let grow, pluck, dry, eat.

Once those holes are filled with answers, im going to start ordering everything right away.
I really need to know if i can get away with using a coffee filter underneath (and over) the jar lid to allow for gas exchange, and also, can i make a buffer layer over the seeds to ward off contams? If so, would it be vermiculite?

Also, Im going to use about 2 CC's of syringe spores for each jar right? That being said, i need to know how many jars im going to need for 2 monotubs. Im thinking like 6 jars?

No. And no.

Coffee filter pores too big. Go to post office and get some free tyvek or get some polyfill.

Verm layer won't work cuz you're gonna shake the jar a couple times.

Teks were written for posts like this.  Pick your teks for each step in the process and follow them to a tee, don't change ANYTHING if you want to have success.

For prepping WBS 6T's WBS prep tek, or Doc's WBS prep Tek... Pick one and stick to it 100%

So im about ready to start ordering supplies, and i think i know what (4) cube strains i want.

I'm still having a problem finding out how to navigate this site, and i saw on spores101 that you can use a promotional code if your a shroomery member to get a free syringe (which would be PERFECT if i got a 3 pack deal for 40 bucks, and got the 4th for free!)

Can anyone help me out on this one?

ALSOOOO ive been looking at bulk subs, and im wondering...

1. Should i put a layer underneath the substrate??? Perlite, or Verm?
2. Should i frost or just mix it well? Also, should i mix it in the bin, or in like a big bowl then poor into the bin?
3. Can i spray the substrate with water between flushes, or should i just trust the moisture levels in the sub to recycle??

Hey guys, i know its been a while, but ive been doing some research, and i got a fresh batch of questions...

(Also, I ordered 6 syringes, because im doing 6 bins. B+, Koh Samui, Puerto Rican, Orissa India, Gulf Cost, and P.E.S.A. whatya think?)

Ok, i am DESPERATELY looking across the internet for good, cheap bricks of Coco Coir. It sounds ridiculous, but im paranoid im not buying the "good" or "right" stuff. I checked out amazon at first, and there was coco coir for pets, and for gardening. They wanted 12 bucks a brick! (thats like buying spores all over again)

Q. can someone PLEASE direct me to a trusty site for Coco Coir?
Q. During colonization of the tubs, should i put a blanket on them, and duct tape the holes? I saw someone do this in a tek and it worked well, but i questioned if they needed to breethe a little (co2 and all)
Q. Has anyone done 6 tubs at a time? I know its alot, but there was a bulk deal, and i couldnt resist. They're are just too many flavors to choose from :] . I figure after this ill slow down, and just stick to one strain i like.
Q. If i cant find a coffee house thatll give me 6 quarts of spent coffee, how do i prepare it for my own use? Can i just boil it in a big pot and drain everything but the coffee?
Q. Was koh samui a bad idea?

yeah the cheapest coir was like 4 dollars a brick, but it was all pet related. Then i saw that any coir that had to do with gardening was like 12 bucks a brick, which made me really nervous. I mean.. theyre HAS to be a difference.

Its just regular koh samui, because i got it from spores101, and it looks like only one vender carries SS (probly becuase its theyre own domesticated version)
