Glowing wood
    #10961147 -

So last night me and my friend went camping in the woods behind my house. We planned on finding some boletes to cook since I find them there all the time. Somehow, we searched the whole place with nothing but a tiny tiny bay bolete (badius). We saw these really weird, uhh.. well I can't describe them. They are basically white tubes from the ground with fish scales as leaves and some little crumpled mass in the top. They look nothing like anything I ever saw outside. Anyways, that night, we noticed some of the wood chunks from our wet firewood was GLOW-IN-THE-DARK! It was glowing green! I tried to take a picture but the camera wouldn't pick up the light. We think it is something called Foxfire, a fungus that grows on rotting wood.

Yea I see that stuff all the time. Really cool to find! I have always called it foxfire fungus as well but I have no idea if that's the real name.

actually monotropa uniflora (Indian Pipe Plant) dont smell too bad and the young specimens have a reminiscent taste of asparagus. The M Uniflora are actually a parasitic plant they parasite fungus in in the russala family which have a mycorizal relation with the surrounding trees using the fungus as a host the extract vital nutrients from the surrounding flora, thus not needing chlorophyll to create sugars they are totally pigment free, except in rare cases they are found with a rosy tint to them.

these plants have allot of medicinal properties IE. in some cases used as a morphine sub, can be chewed on to relieve tooth pain, the juices used as an eye balm, and tinctures used as anti psychotics,  but contain some chemicals that are carcinogenic and can be pretty harmful. all in all with its dependence on the surrounding this plant is near impossible to propagate and too rare to be thought of as an everyday medicinal herb

sorry just thought i would share

There was probably Armillaria mycelium present in your logs.

I think there are around 30 Mycena species that are bioluminescent either in the mycelium or the young fruit bodies!
