Mechwarrior 5
    #10653730 -

Well not really, it'll be a 'reboot' of the Mechwarrior series. Looks awesome though, I've been waiting for a new MW game for a long time

Anybody else play Mech 2 as a kid?

Man, how I've been waiting for a new MW game since Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries; that was back in 2002.

There were the "MechAssault" games, but they wasn't the same. They weren't on the PC (and thus the classic control setup gone), and there was no 'mech customizing at all. Also, you were able to get out on foot, climb up the side of an enemy 'mech and jack it from him like Grand Theft Auto. Come on...

I'm feeling hopeful this new Mechwarrior is going to be a good one.

And to answer your question about playing MW2 as a kid: Had an original copy of this game, somehow. I think it might have come with the computer we bought. From what I remember, I would play it constantly.

I played Mechwarrior 3 and 4 a ton during the early 00s. I remember how excited I was for the MechAssault games, but yeah, they really didn't compare to the PC games. Hopefully Mechwarrior 5 won't dissapoint!

The story goes, or the way that I was told
There was a king that always felt too high and then he fell too low
And so he called all the wise men to the hall
And begged them for a gift to end the rises and the falls
But here’s the thing, they came back with a ring
It was simple and was plainly unbefitting of a king
Engraved in black, it had no front or back
But there were words around the band that said
Just know: This Too Shall Pass

The Mechwarrior 2 intro was the first thing I saw on a computer that really made my jaw drop. To see something like that in the days of DOS games and 75 mhz processors... hell it still looks good today.

Nostalgia time

Man, I haven't seen that in years. Thanks.

I distinctively remember watching that almost every time I started the game because of how badass it is.

"Enemy power-up, detected."

"Heat level, critical.

Shutdown sequence initiated.

Shutdown sequence... over-ridden."

The Gregorian chant techno-music, running a Kodiak under that waterfall and pummeling the Linebacker to left...  damn man, I lived MW2.

Haven't enjoyed a game as much as MW2, favorite of all time.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to run my copy MW2 on Windows XP. I would have to create a new partition on my hard drive and install a copy of Windows 95.

I tried to play this the other day. Got it to install, but I could not get it to run... disappointing. I have a copy of it on PlayStation 1, but it's not the same. A Mechwarrior game can only feel right with a keyboard/joystick.

Hopefully they'll stick to what was awesome about Mechwarrior 3.. Instead of making another travesty that was Mechwarrior 4.

Have you tried running it in win 95 compatibility mode?

Tried it. No go. The consensus of the internet support forums is that it can't be done.

of course it can, Just install windows 95 on a virtual machine (or download a win95 virtual machine from torrent).

this allows you to run windows or Linux or whatever the fuck on top of your existing vista or XP or whatever without having to repartition or shut down or any of that bollocks.
