"d3drm.dll file missing" (installing LEGO Rock raiders, game won't run)

I'm on windows7 on my newish compaq presario cq56. celeron processor.
Remembered a game i used to play long ago and never finished.
It's LEGO Rock Raiders from long ago.

installed it pretty quick, restarted the computer, tried playing the game, but everytime i do, that error message pops up saying i'm missing a d3drm.dll file, and that i should reinstall the game. Tried that, now what?

Unfortunately I can't help you but I just want to say that is an awesome game. I remember playing it back in the day, good times.

Try going opening the disc and finding the file. Then you would want to put it in your system files, I'm not too sure if you would want to place it in your "C:/Windows/System32", or "..Windows/System", or "..Windows/SysWOW64".

Try em all :shrug:

Be sure to try running in administrator, or in some older compatibility mode (xp.. w/e)

Might have just found the problem. Downloaded the DirectX updater, its getting a lot of missed updates at the moment.... gonna see if this works.

Damn right! i can't wait to run this baby aww yisss.

I'm wondering how my computer is going to handle it, hopefully faster than the last computer i had it on.

if the game came on dvd or what not could try installing the version of directx that came w/ it.... imagine it would be on the disc somewhere.

Could try moving the missing file into the installation directory of the game as well

How would i 'find' it on the disc? i opened the folder that got installed from it, nothing in there...

ps, i know this was risky, and i don't know if it will work, but i downloaded that specific file from the internet, norton said it was safe. (i hate norton.)

seems legit..? where do i put this file now so my computer will read it when it needs to?

If you don't have the actual DVD or an ISO of the DVD then it may not be included w/ your installer....

there's a 4 page thread, solution is d/l the dll and sticking it in your windows/system folder as mentioned before or in game directory, also possibly running the exe file in windows xp compatibility mode :shrug:

Installation directory would be where you installed it, most likely "C:\Program Files (x86)\xxxxx" xxx being the name of the game or game company.

highlight game disc icon in my computer

Right click -> Explore Disc, or Open in new window

Sift through folders until you find the .dll you're looking for, or use the find function.

Move it to one of the folders mentioned above.

So, i just found out why I'm into all the music artists as an adult. this game has some really dank breakbeat/drum'n'bass tracks of its own.



ps, this game runs so smooth on this computer. think i might try the 'enhanced' version now.
