I'm going to hike Half Dome TONIGHT....

Tomorrow night around 8pm me and a few buddies are going to leave to Yosemite, probably get to the trail head around 11pm. And begin on our trek by midnight....Then get to witness sunrise from the top with a few bowls of bud and a powerbar breakfast. There is going to be a full moon so everything should illuminated quite well for a night hike.


I'm also thinking about taking a single hit of Lucy right before the cables so i can be tripping by the time the sun comes up...Either way it's going to be amazing....

Anyone else ever hike half dome, day or night?

I've done it 4 times, starting at 4am each time.  The last time, I ran up.

If you've got balls, you'll have your friends hang you over the edge :awesome:

I'm terrified of heights, It looks fun and I would like to go on it eventually in my life time, where is it located?

It's in Yosemite National Park in California.

First time I went, when I got to the hump leading to the final ascent, which is like this narrow strip where you can see 3000 feet down on both sides, my knees started shaking and I had to sit for 10 minutes to gain the courage.

I used to have a huge fear of heights...It's not nearly as bad as it used to be, actually non-existent really now that i think about it....I will probably end up laying flat on my stomach with my head peering over the edge for a while :smirk:....


I'm really excited for this, going to be leaving in just a few hours...I should have some pics and a bear story or two when i get back.

can u walk up that with normal shoes???????
how do u not fall
wuts the incline like 80 degrees at some points

That's fucking sweet dude. A full moon half-dome ascent would be stellar!!!!

I can't wait till I get to make the trip to Yosemite. I've been to most of the major parks in the western US.... except that  :-)

Good luck man, I hope to hike half dome sometime soon. I live in Cali and I have never been to yosemite....I have no clue why.

That's what i'm going to be doing, just some Lakai Skate shoes haha....I'm sure proper hiking boots would make things a little bit easier though. And yeah the incline gets to just over 70 degrees at points i guess....

Yosemite is practically in my back yard, just a drive up the mountain...Considering how close it is i should be up there much more.....

But yea, you have to go sometime man...It is one of the most stunning and beautiful places i have ever seen in my life...

Well, i'm out....Going over to a friends B-day party for a couple hours, gonna have a few beers and get some food in my stomach then heading up to Yosemite.

Have fun man, the half dome trail was closed for repairs or something when I went to Yosemite. Sometime I've got to make the trip back there, it looks like a great hike.

It was so awesome....

We were able to hike under moonlight with no flashlights needed through most of the hike and we were the only ones on the trail for almost the entire hike up, i found it to be very surreal....

It's a great hike to do if you want to find out if you're in good shape or not haha :smirk:....I consider my self to be pretty healthy and in decent shape, but it just totally kicked my ass. I kept at it and made it though...And it was worth it. I will post more about it tomorrow with some pics hopefully, but i'm exhausted and tired...Took a Soma & smoked a few bowls after a hot shower so my body is jello like and i'm feeling some sleep...
