Yea man.  In my opinion, Funkadelic blows most bands from this era out of the water.  Their music is pure psychedelia, and I've never heard anything like it. 

In fact, they managed to cut a whole album while tripping on acid (unfortunately one of their band members left due to a bad trip).  The album is pure freak out, with ten minute psychedelic guitar solos, George Clinton speaking gibberish over a Bible Verse, random screaming, and everything else you would ever want.  Other albums are also amazing.

In my opinion, Eddie Hazel is an extremely underrated guitarist, possibly because he was overshadowed by another famous black guitar player, Jimi Hendrix.  However, Eddie delved deeper into the essence of psychedelia.

Gogol:  Pretty cool stuff there.  I have never heard that album.  I never gave it a chance.  I like it!  Wikipedia claims that En Vogue was making reference to this album when they wrote "Free your mind and the rest will follow".
