He's a badass, but unfortunately he's gonna lose his all-time saves record to mariana rivera...reds should have never left him open to the 93' expansion draft.  then again, he wasn't a pitcher yet  :rolleyes:

Unfortunately?  The greatest closer of all time should have all the records.  Hoffman has been very very good and deserves every accolade he gets but he aint no Mariano.  Close, but no Mariano.

the only reason i can stand mariano is because he is on my fantasy team.  in the grand scheme of things, he has truly been unbelievable.  i just have never liked the yankees and never will.  jeter gets a bye.

Difficult to make that call. The two of them really couldn't have played in two worlds than what they did. Of course you have to take your hat off to MR for his post season work, but I'd say that in their prime a team had about the same chance of scoring on either one of them. Two of the best pitches I've seen in my short life from each of them.
