outdoor - GT and GC

hey shroomery sorry about the old thread but had problems and deleted my old photo bucket.

on to my first ever outdoor project.
1st bed consist of
-6 WBS pint jars(GT).
-substrate is h/poo,straw,worm casting,and some perlight.
was mixed all together about two weeks ago.

*ive been forgetting to cover the bed so it stays dark during the day. everything looks great colonizing fast and looks healthy. i already have pins popping up after the two week rang, the bed isnt fully colonized yet though. heres my question, would the bed not being covered during the day be the cause of the pins coming up so early or is this normal? should i make a casing layer for the bed; it being outdoors?
bed is 30"Lx18"Wx6"D

ok and on to the specs on the other two beds ill be doing
2nd bed consist of -
-8 jars (hopefully rye) pint jars(GT).
-substrate is c/poo,straw,worm casting,vermiculite
-this hole will be the same length and width but twice the depth of the 1st bed.

3rd bed consist of -
-14 jars (hopefully rye) pint jars(GC).
-substrate is h/poo,straw,worm casting,vermiculite
-this hole will be twice the Length,width, and depth of the 1st bed.

maybe keep them covered with something that will help keep the humidity up, while still letting a little bit of daylight in....while also providing fresh air :lol:

u can see ur mycelium getting a bit dried/burnt

I was thinking about it too, leaves work really well so long as they don't get flattened from being saturated.  My myc burnt a little but that's ok, once it's done fruiting, bring it back indoors for a bit and treat it well then chuck it back outdoors, this time in a bigger patch.  I would get it nice and dry for a couple of days, then rehydrate a day prior to tossing it out again, it should colonize a little and then start pinning, provided you water it good every day or two.

so the bed getting light even though its not 100% colonized isnt goin to effect anything?
burnt:confused: is that what the tanish coloring is forgot to ask about that haha...

in nature, nothing is ever fully colonized. just colonized enough to push out fruits.
when we fruit indoors, we have things fully colonize so there is no more food left for competition to try to eat.(among other reasons)

when you find a turd with shrooms growing from it, is it ever glowing white?
usually when you break them apart you see that very little is actually "fully colonized"

you might want to sprinkle a THIN layer of casing over that to keep your mycelium from drying/dying

so how do you fix burnt myc.? it doesnt really seem to be effecting the growth at all theres just alot of places with that tanish coloring to it...?

you don't, or after you get your flush you take your pile, break it up, add more poo, and then cover with leaves and wait for it to go again.

Actually I just threw together my patch and I just used hay to cover it with.  The nutrient value of the hay is no matter when dealing with outdoor beds, just don't case it too thick.

oh sexy little patch ya got there! wonder what your dry weight will be, any way you can let us know before they are all consumed? and have you ever had a problem with squirrels digging for your spawn or raiding your fruits yet? they are a major issue every time I do an outdoor grow
