humidifying casings
    #1069438 - 11/20/02 12:52 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Ok ive done searches and read the FAQ's and i still havent found what im looking for. my question is, what do you experience cultavators recommed for keeping 92% humidity for my casings. Right now i have some PF cakes in my fruiting chamber with an Utrasonic humifier providing humidity. from what ive read thats too much for casings and perlite might be too much as well. so like i asked earlier, what humidifying techiniques do you recommend to keep me in the 92% rh range.

If to high , run humidifier less , try putting some holes in chamber to allow dryer air to mix in with humid air , fanning more to can lower humidity . Do not mist as often . There are many ways you can lower humidity , use your imagination , you will find the solution in no time .
If to low , mist more often , use some perilite in a container , etc....
Good Luck
ps raising temps one or two degrees will also lower RH .

i have 2 casings and 2 cakes in a chamber with perlite and its at a constant 95-98% humidity. Its ironic that the cakes arent doing crap and thats their recommended humidty and the casings are doing great!

yeah, it really depends on how many casings you've got and the size of the container they're in. if you've got a lot of casings in a small container you may not need additional humidification (though you will still need air exchange). conversely, if you've got one small casing in a giant container chances are you will need significant extra humidification.

so i'll tell you what my pet monkey's leech used: an aquarium air pump connected to an air stone sitting in a 6" x 9" pan of water with perlite floating in it. the pump is on 15 minutes and off 15 minutes 24/7 and maintains around 90% rh 100% of the time. the perlite floats in the water, (theoretically) increasing the amount of water surface in contact with air.
