Fuck ya!!

Just ate some sushi today.  Got home and had to take a nap.  :lol:  Just woke up.

Started out with some miso.  Then the edamame.  Next came mackarel, octupus, and tuna nigiri.  Ended off with a gator roll.  :drooling:  I was in heaven the entire time.

I CANNOT go to a sushi bar without ordering mackarel.  OMG  I love this fish.  Octopus is soon becoming the same way for me.  And I haven't tried urchin yet because it's hella expensive.

I didn't have the balls to try the tripe at the little pho restaurant I went to in Chinatown a while back. I had some other slightly more, um, substantial, meat with the soup instead.

I do love Unagi tho and most other sushi, especially Masago (Smelt eggs), all tuna, yellow tail, salmon (raw or smoked).

How would you rate "Chef Orient" (where I took you for the sushi)?

I'd probably give that place a 7 or 8 out of 10.. not the greatest.. but certainly better than average.

I discovered http://www.minado.com/ after you left Massachusetts... They have an all-you-can-eat buffet of delicious hot dishes
and appetizers, cold Japanese salads, sushi, sashimi (tuna, yellow tail, salmon), king crab legs, oysters, and even crepes made to order!

The buffet goes on for over a hundred feet in the shape of a wide W, well, more like |_|¯|_| and
dinner is $27.95 per person.

I've eaten twice that value in raw oysters alone each time I've gone there.

I give it an 8.5 for sushi/sashimi quality/quantity/value.

If you're ever back on the east coast, Minado is definitely worth a try... Go there STARVING!

Payday!!  I'm heading over to the sushi bar again for lunch, what should I get this time?  I've had crab, eel, tuna, you know, the basics.  I wanna step it up a notch this time.

Yep, nigiri is my favorite kind of sushi/sashimi.  With or without ginger and wasabi.  The first thing I do is bite into a large piece of salmon draped over a bed of sushi rice, just clean fresh ocean taste.

I too would live off of quality sushi/sashimi if I could afford it.

Worst kind of 'sushi' = California rolls.  Or anything with cream cheese or mayonnaise or whatever.  Sushi to me means fresh fish, not fancy rolls of heavy cholesterol crap.

I just had some sushi today after my MRI scan at USC medical center. I had some unagi,salmon and shrimp sushi along with a tasty tuna roll. Sushi FTW!
