lazy fanning?
    #1063277 - 11/18/02 04:01 PM (21 years, 4 months ago)

i was wondering if anyone has a automated fan system, with holidays coming up, i would like to leave mushies unattended maybe 2-3 days @ time, i know this is not ideal for harvesting, etc. currently we run some fish pumps into each terrarium and have a dime sized polyfil filled holes for an air outlet. anyone have any suggestions for making some automated fanner? or would maybe doing a cpu fan take care of it?

good day.

As long as the pumps are outside the terrarium where there is fresh air, then yes, thats fine.

Unless they are unusually large pumps they probably don't provide enough air exchange. I would set up some sort of fan on a timer with filtered intake. A few minutes everyhour should be fine for a small fan.

i also thought air bubblers were insufficient when it came to replacing fanning. now i know. im not too handy so a cpu fan is out of the question. so would a desktop\car fan work ok? do i really need a filtered in take if everything is in a hepa cement floored room?

What kind of filtered intake does anyone recommend, Here is what my dog decided upon, He took 2 small plastic glasses cut a small hole in the bottom of each glass then he filled with polyfill, used apoxyputty to "glue " the 2 glasses together at the lips, then stuck fish tube in both ends, hot glued the fish tubing to the holes in the bottom of the glasses and there is filtered intake air.. ANY RECOMMADATIONS???

i simply just have a double layer of coffee filters over my fish bub air intake (the whole bottom thing on most models). i've heard of people making boxes to put there bubs running with polyfill filled holes.
