milkdrop visualizer question

I just downloaded winamp and I'm trying to learn how to change the milkdrop settings. There are some pretty cool visualizations and then others that aren't that great.

How can you pick which ones you want to see, and not have it cycle through them randomly?

I didn't think you can it constatnly changes any way none last more than a few seconds

well that kinda sucks because some of them are like 3 dimensional oil pastel paintings that are stretching and smearing along to the beat of my music. I'd like to watch those a little longer you know?

Ok, it's been a long time since i've played around with this, so hopefully what I remember is correct. It says in the manual that + and - will rate the preset, so maybe that determines how often it is shown? I'm not sure as i never tried that. If that doesn't work this is the only other way I know of. Also, this is going to be a pain in the ass.

Use "L" to show the entire listing and pick out the ones you really don't like, then simply locate the presets and delete them. Might want to back that up first as they could be hard to find again. Should be someplace like this...
"Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\Milkdrop"

If you don't have the patience for that (I wouldn't, there's a lot of them), then check out the website and any manuals or tutorials you can find. There are some decent keyboard shortcuts for it. And by the way, two i've never seen listed are the "{" and "}" keys, these kinda let you control the movement a little bit. It's weird but fun, you'll just have to try it and see.

Edit- Just caught your last post. That's easy, just go the visualization settings "Alt + K" or use the menus, then the last tab called transitions lets you set the time before they change. Also, you can use scroll lock to lock whatever preset is showing at the moment.

ok I figured out how you hit F1 it will tell the options like hit backspace to view previous preset etc

Press "L" and go down to "Geiss - Cauldron - Painterfly 5" that one is so schweet, it's like your music is building mountains.

if you want to make it 10 times cooler wear some 3d fireworks glasses. it is seriously amazing if you have a bright monitor
they turn 3D and if you put your hands over parts of the screen you will see it become transparent or even completly gone

open winamp and be sure that your visualizer is closed.
then go to options at the top left
scroll down to visualizations
select configure plugin
now you will have several options to tweek.
if you have a slower comp, you can adjust the settings to handle better.
you can also prolong how long the vis says on, how long it takes to blend to teh next one, how sensitive it is to teh beats.
Its pretty cool shit, and if you got ne questions jsut keep this thread alive.
