Couldn't be further from the truth.  Quantum theory is the basis of chemistry.  Chemical reactions and bonding follow and can be predicted from quantum theory.   

The power of quantum theory to both provide engineering marvels as well as insight to the fundamental nature the universe makes it far from superfluous.  It is a pinnacle of human achievement.


The whole "destroy existence" thing comes from things I've read about the LHC.  I know the QM field extends far beyond simple colliders but the field includes colliders which have various negative outcomes as well as positive ones, but the negative ones include creating a mini-blackhole which could either evaporate or suck up the entire planet and thanks to OPs post could also set about a change effectively changing the state of or destroying all of existence, which is kind of mind blowing.

I'd like to read more about quantum machines, if you have any links.


The concern of people regarding the LHC was due to whether hawking radiation existed or not. Hawking postulated that when a black hole formed it ejects particles from itself faster than it could suck them in. In a particle rich environment with a large enough black hole this would not be the case. However, in our outer atmosphere particles are slamming into shit as fast or faster than what the LHC could muster giving large credence to the theory that although black holes are fomred by these collisions of particle they quickly die out due to hawking radiation.

I know an anonymous internet poster alone isn't a credible source, but I assure you the LHC doomsday scenario is embraced only by a fringe and is not accepted as legitimate.

I honestly dont have any links to good readings on quantum stuff.  Its very hard stuff to learn of course and the internet is riddled with mystical hijackings of the science.

Life to me is the perception of reality by an organism. Biomechanics through evolution has determined that an organism that can intelligently perceive "reality" is best able to survive. Life or perception is not important what so ever. It's just a side effect. An awesome ones for humans though. Perception is great imo.

PS: HE= high explosive to me

hawking radiation was opposed by many, many theoretical physicists when hawking proposed it

Quantum mechanics can't be proofed or disproofed based on the widely believed assumption that matter is defined by the observer (or observers) and human understanding is no more obtainable to the ultimate reality of being than a rat in a maze calculating it's chances of entering and exiting the hole of the maze while determinating the formula of the path which brought it to it's release.

lol the only reason it takes me so long to post in these types of debates is that I'll proof what I wrote and find all kinds of mistakes in logic and what not, then try to fix them effectively changing my whole topic....and it goes on.

QM is purely hypothetical at this point. There is reason why they call is theoretical physics. It just happens that most of the math can jive with the what we know to be true. Of course, I follow Austrian economic theory so it would be nice to discover a fundamental axiom that could describe everything.

Do you believe in M theory? There is a considerable debate between super quantum loop gravity and m theory right. You can't argue otherwise. The fundamental makeup of our reality is in debate currently. I was entertaining his basis of reality to make his manner of thinking more accessible to the current conception of physical reality. I admit, My words were less than precise but I am very intoxicated right now.
