this is an electronic chillout track I've finished a few weeks ago
check it out and tell me how you like it. also tell me what you don't like, so I can learn!

maybe turn the volume down on that hammer thing hitting sound, kinda feels out of place. other than that you did a great job dood

I'm just trying to give you some shortcuts I wish I had, not being a prick :grin:

Most important tips for mixing..

1. Give each instrument it's own space in the mix by boosting frequencies that sound good with each instrument. (Don't EQ with all of the other tracks muted, tracks affect eachother)

2. Trust your ears! Turn off your monitor, close your eyes. Just listen through the song. (Get some good headphones. They are worth it. I use DT880's and they blow me away)

3. Don't get too fucked up or your tracks will sound fucked up too. Set EVERYTHING UP first. Do EVERYTHING you can do when your sober. Then when you need that creative boost everything is there for you and you don't have to sit there wondering what to do.


Sub bass 20-60ish Hz
Kick drum 80 Hz (The chest resonance frequency)
Bass guitar 100-500ish Hz
Guitar 1000-5000ish Hz (Really play around, make sure to cut lows)

That's just a basic outline of where instruments lie, every situation is different though.


For your track specifically... Brighten the strings, bells, and synths. Cut out frequencies below 100 on those tracks to get rid of the rumble. Your track sounds muddy because there is too much going on in the low frequencies.

Double up tracks and pan hard left and right. Apply some reverb or delay differently on each track, this gives you a huge sound. Experiment a lot with this.

Having that said, I like the music. Sounds like I'm sitting in a Zen garden by the mountains.

you mean that I should use 2 tracks for each synth and pan those left and right to reate a more full sound? I can imagine that's great for background synths, but I think for the one's I use ping-pong delay's on, or use automated panning as a spatial effect, it wouldn't help?
