Volkswagon Jettas
    #10466299 -

Are these longlasting cars?

Im thinking about buying a 2002 Jetta with 87,000 miles on it.  Its a 4 cyl, automatic, gasoline.

What are things to look out for in these cars?

Would a Honda be better?

Honda's are usually pretty reliable, the really good thing about Hondas is that if they do break, replacement parts are pretty cheap.

QFT

they're also one of the easier cars to work on, there's almost
nothing on that car that takes more than 3 hours to repair using
hand tools, head gasket or timing belt on a 4cyl is just a couple hours

My friends got the same car with a little more miles on it and shit breaks on it all the time.  That car is such a piece.  I think he even put a new tranny in it.

If I were to buy a Jetta, I would get a TDI...50+ mpg.  And diesel is once again cheaper than gasoline where I live.

Then I drive away in my solar powered piece of shit car, cool stuff man.

And then I go kill a bitch because the flaming orb in the sky told me to do so, and I don't know, oppress a few minorities here and there in the name of nuclear fusion?

Religion is fun.

that doest change the fact the VW stopped making reliable cars and
instead relied on a reputation of dependability that's long since passed

I have one of these, the diesel's are absolutely great, smooth and steady even over 100MPH

diesel is universally cheaper than gas right now, about $.50 cents where i'm at,plus diesels last longer, and get better mileage.

just stay away from the automatics, and anything that has a 01M automatic transmission, they are prone to failure.

That's one car.  Doesn't every automaker have lemons?   I know GM does...found that out first hand.

One of my friends has an '01 Jetta TDI w 5spd manual with 310,000+ miles, with no more than regular maintnence done.  I've never owned a VW, and don't know that I ever will...I just like the sound of 50mpg.  :yesnod:
