its growing fast

Well, my fish has five pf cakes that are sitting on about an inch and a half of perlite in a rubbermaid container. They were birthed 10 days ago and the mycellium has grown through into the perlite and when u pick up the cake the perlite is stuck to the cake. There are even shrooms growing directly from the perlite. My fish's question is that is this going to hurt the cakes any, and are the shrooms growin directly from the perlite safe?

Having the cakes directly on the perlite may over-saturate them

I would suggest against putting cakes directly on perlite. I used to sit my cakes on foil. Few times i had the mycelium snake across the foil and into the perlite. Never harmed anything.

.try scraping some perlite off the cakes and then put them on top of some foil....

i used to take the lid from the jar, fill it with saturated vermiculite and set the cake on that.  then put a square of black trashbag plastic underneath it to keep the fungi from fruiting towards the white perlite :smile:
