For instance, I want to go skydiving and that costs money.

Yep, I thought money couldn't buy happiness, then I started skydiving :vaped:

All my previous activities were free, but now I have to pull an extra $200 a week out of ass to get a couple of jumps in.

Gimme another year and I'll be starting BASE, then instead of paying $40 for a ride to altitude I'll have a hike 5 hours :mad2:

Nice, I haven't done it yet, but someone used the example in another thread and it came to mind. Also, it's something I really want to do in the near future.

There are lots of good, open hearted, caring wealthy people.  There are lots of evil, stupid, violent poor people.

Money isn't the problem.

The problem is lust, fear, stupidity, and greed.  Money is none of those things.

Money is life's lubricant.

It is a gratuitous grace neither sufficient nor essential for enlightenment.

Yeah I agree with this.

Money, or at least the concept, is actually a very good thing. It is a system that returns to those who contribute to society (at least in theory). Those who work to help support society and get something in return for their efforts. A sort of universal good that can be traded for other needs and services.

While a society completely without money seems nice, I think it is impossible. Without any form of credit system, or something to be returned for work, there would be no reason to work at all.

Now lets not confuse money and capitalism.

Capitalism is the reason why Kobe Bryant makes $10 million a year, and a school teacher only makes $25,000.

Capitalism is the reason why it costs you $7 to buy a beer at concert, but you can buy a 12 pack of cans for the same price at the store.

Money isn't the problem. Its the system that uses it, and the people that abuse it.

Haha I was going to ask the same thing.

Money makes the world go 'round. I think people need to get a grip and revalue some things out there, but overall I don't think money itself is the problem.
