You can withdraw it for that long if you claim a much smaller amount each month to get from them, but most people take as much as they can each month. I think now days you can request an extension for more after the 5k even runs out. Milk that shit brotha. You don't get many breaks, and take this one at it's full value.

Yeah I get it till like the end of next year. Either way, I've worked for 13 years. Technically this is all my money anyway.

I might as well shove it straight up my nose (I'm kidding of course).

I can't stand being unemployed, not for lack of hobbies, but I just hate not having that responsibility... :crankey:

grats, to all of you that love not having a job so much, but it bugs the fucking shit out of me

Yeah. It's like the summer holidays. Great for the first few weeks but after a while you start going NUTS

Haha it is good at the start. But now I've been unemployed for 17 months. :crazy2: I've gone full circle crazy. Back to normalish now.

Maybe I'll go round the bend again! :bananahorsey:

I can understand going bonkers after 17 months. I might enjoy this until about August or something.

After 3 months i didn't know what to do with myself lol. I got a part time job and still collected unemployment. You just enter in the meager amount of cash you make at the part time job, then unemployment makes up the rest. I did pizza delivery like 18 hours a week. Once unemployment ran out i started there full time because my wife wanted me to stay home with the kids all summer during the day, and then work at night so we didn't have to pay for childcare (we save 700 bucks a month). It worked out great and we decided to keep it that way. I love working there, and i love raising my own kids. I hated sending them to daycare and so did they. I'm getting a real job once they are all in school full time, so until then it's workin at domino's and being a full time dad. My wife is my sugar momma and I'm ok with that for awhile. She has a bachelors degree and a good job working for the school system.

I freaked out at first. I was proud and stubborn. I looked at unemployment as if it were a hand out.

FUCK THAT! This is awesome. A person would have to be foolish to overlook something like this.

Its interesting to add that while I was working I couldn't get help going to school. Now that I'm unemployed they'll pay for all of my tuition. Its like they don't want me to have a job.

Here they say you are required to apply a 2 places a week but it's not like they can prove whether you do or don't , I mean I still applied as much as I could but I could find 2 places a week it just isn't always possible, I think the people working there know that though.

Haha after 3 months I was just getting into the swing of it. Jesus 700 a month is a savage amount of cash to be saving.
My biggest worry is what I'm supposed to say to a potenial employer about my 17 month absense from work. Doesn't look good by anyones book.

I don't have more than 3 months because i had a part time job while collecting unemployment. Hardly a hole in my work history.

I will refrain from saying how pathetic this is and only point out as some one who hired people ,your unemployement records are available to employers......I threw many many job applications in the trash because they maxed out unemployement.....stands to reason they will do it again when they quit/get fired etc from my job ,so those application were trashed immediatly.

You pay very very little of what you collect ,the employers pays 50 percent and the state/fed makes up the rest.

No. 26. I have only collected once, which was from a KOREAN owned company, that gave me a $0.25 raise after 2 years, sometimes working 15 hour shifts. Our country is shit because people live beyond their means. Our country is shit because companies are allowed to pay people a minimum that couldnt get 1 person by, much less a family.
Our country is shit because more and more companies are switching to temp services, and firing when it comes time for rotation.
I have to pay for Social Security, even though there wont be any left when I get to that age. I have NO sympathy for any company that gives a shit less about the individual employee. I dont know what you manage/own, and its irrelevant, but do you pay your employees fairly? Or just enough? Do you fire them when their kid goes into the hospital for 3 months and this person is needing alot of time off, but has only been there for 5 months?

Re: Unemployment [Re: Captain Caveman]

I was never in charge of what a person made..in my exsperiance that was up to the individual, based on how they worked.
Most smaller companies bareley get by and a few months of a slump is enuff to end thier business for good.If I have 5 employees ,I need all 5,I simply cant make do with 4 instead of 5 when someone needs lots of time off and unfortunatly alot of it has to do with scheduling ,people want goods and services in a timely manner and being understaffed you simply cant do that.

I understand your point and it mostly applies to giant corperations ,who have plenty of money and more than enuff employees to fill shortages, there is no reason not to pay well and let people have time off, this simply is not possibly for smaller businesses.
The reasons you pointed out is why I would never work for a giant corperation.

The reasons for a failing America are the same ones I pointed out ...it`s people.
Greedy corperate types all the way down to lazy people who max unemployement out ,instead of finding work during that time.

If I get a job and the pay is not what I want ,I simply move on,not work there for 2 years. There is always a sucker that will work for pennies,I am jusy not one of them.I make my worth know and demand correct pay based on facts,if thats not enuff to obtain more money I leave and find a place that is willing to value a good worker.
When I look for a job ,I usually end up with 20 or 30 places calling and find the one I like and have no problem letting the others know I am in demand and have other oppertunities ,I am not desperate worker that will take whatever they offer,I make my value known up front and end up taking about half of those off the list before even going there in person.

Simply put ,it`s up to you to make it happen and settle for no less than what your worth, after doing this for awhile you develope a track record so to speak and when these companies call your former employer and he has nothing but good to say ,they see what you are telling them is true, they also look at unemployement history to back this up.
I can tell you from exsperiance they will pay you as little as your willing to settle for.I tell them my value and skill set and if they are open to paying me what I am worth ,I pursue it further ,if not ,I simply goto the next business....there are millions of employers out there and some understand the value of a good employee.
