Any time 2 or 3 days after a good rain is the time to start looking.

mushman18,

This year has been very sh!tty for 2 reasons.  The freezes that we got this winter and the lack of rain up until 2 days ago.  I'm in Central Florida and I know we are down 10-12 inches of rain compared to where we are supposed to be.  We have a fire danger in place and "crunchy grass" conditions out in the fields.  This does not make hunting mushrooms any good at this point in the year.  However if this weather pattern continues - it will improve quickly.

The best months for me have been June, July and August.  For the past 5 years I have found active mushrooms in the fields year-round.  This year due to the 2 things I mentioned above - has been sh!tty.  I found 2 Cubensis this year at the beginning of April and nothing since.  I also found some active pans at the beginning of April as well.

Compared to other years...this is the slowest start I have ever seen.

peace

I'm kind of worried about the Florida season. It's started raining every day and not giving the shrooms time to grow without drowning them.

Don't worry...we still need more rain.  I was finding shrooms after Tropical Storm Fay last year in 2+ inches of water on the field.  Of course they don't grow underwater the ones I found were already growing...however Central Florida still needs more rain.

What do you think happens after a hurricane or tropical storm?
