Gumby and I found some mushrooms today.

We took an afternoon stroll through some river park trails by my place and at the start we weren't too ambitious because the ground was all overgrown with some weed that made spotting morels impossible.  (Gumby's the expert so he pointed and I followed).  We crossed a clearing and found an assload of sycamore trees which apparently are a good indicator for morels, so we started looking there and not more than 5 minutes later I hear, "Found em!"  We collected a good 5lbs. worth of fresh morels.  The thing is, we were just looking in this area because we didn't have a lot of daylight but we ended up hitting the jackpot.  :grin:

We're preppin em now.  We got two huge London Broils marinating now, I'm gonna sautee them up and top the steaks with em when we get some beers in us.

All clean, ready for the pan.  :drooling:    I've never had morels, never hunted them....  I'd say I had a DAMN fine first hunt!  :hehehe:

my shroomery bff is platnium.

i havent found morels in NJ yet but i have in VT but thats before i got into eating em. i love chanterelles specially the cinabar they are so fucking yummy

Great work. What do they taste like? I've never had a chance to try them myself...

I did find some Shaggy Mane (coprinus comatus) a while ago though. Those tastes all right. Don't know what the best way to cook them is though. They were pretty fragile.

I have never eaten any mushroom besides the store bought buttons and portabellas (and cubes).

I would LOVE to try some of those :drool2:

We went to Coltons tonight and shared a fried mushroom appetizer.
I ate that and an 18 oz T-bone and baked potato :drooling:
