Is this a peruvian torch?
    #10230676 -

Just bought this, so, I was wondering if it is really a peruvian torch. It's spines look like torches, it has 6-8 nodes, etc etc like most descriptions I've read. Thanks in advance for your help with my hobby.

Looks like one with a bit of cuzco genetics mixed in.

That whole genus and species is so out of order it is ridiculous!

Thanks for the replies. So, what do u think are the odds that it is what I am looking for? It's still not too late for me to cancel my order is why I ask.

It's a beautiful cactus whether it is a true peruvianus or not.

The flamed top makes me think it is as well as the blue color and brown-ish dried spines (they are kind of white though which makes me think cuzcoensis genetics)

If you're looking to eat it I would recommend dried skins.

Plant that sucker and enjoy a pretty cactus

If you're growing for aesthetics, don't cancel your order. If you plan to consume the cactus, I'd cancel the order.

You should just keep it and grow it . Then you should order a second, correct torch. Cacti are fun. :omgawesome:

Yar, and if you order one for mescaline, go with a Bridgesii. It might not be the strongest, but it seems to be the most consistent for mes content.

So what site would u all recommend to order from?

Also, I thought Peruvian Torch is best, followed by San Pedro, then Bridgesii for content?

Bridgesii is the most consistant and your best bet if you buy online, as many torches are fake ones (cuzcos, etc), and san pedros vary a lot in term of alkaloids.

Not always true and consistency is really not something you'll find plant to plant.

On the subject of consistency and alkaloids...

...unless you grew the cutting yourself, you're gambling :p  Most vendors dont really care if the cutting has had time to fix the nitrogen into mescaline or not...

Yes, scruffy is correct, those do not resemble v-notches to me. If you plan on consuming it, go ahead and buy it if it is a good price.

Well, after contacting the seller and telling him that I got experts (you guys) to I.D. and that it was not a Peruvian Torch he gave me my money back very quickly. So, me and my low-income wallet, humbly, and with the greatest respect sincerely thank everyone that looked at this post.

Since everyone in general seems to think Bridgesii are the best bet on average, I am taking my chances with a plant from (edited to comply with rules, lol). When I get the plant, I will be sure to post a pic and see what you guys think.

Once again, thank you everyone so much for saving me money, time, and a lot of frustration a few years from now when I found it the plant isn't what I wanted. It is nice knowing there are some caring people out there still.

Sincerely,
Runeswords
