Two Words To End All Of That Prana/Orgasm Bullshit

Hugh Hefner.

Now, granted, I was reading about rumors that he is starting to have health problems, which he seems to fervently deny, but the man is still over 80, probably ahead of the curve in terms of octogenarian health, and one can only suspect that he's had a hell of a lot more orgasms in his life than most old men.

So, can we lay to rest the cuckoo notion :nut: that having an orgasm somehow drains one's "life energy", and simply note that having an orgasm isn't a detriment to human health provided that said humans are living a healthy lifestyle and are compensating for the loss of protein and other stuff?

btw orgasm can be had much more intensely without ejaculation, look up the valley orgasm, or better yet have a valley orgasm!

I think it depends on the individual.  Obviously if he didn't buy into the orgasm = loss of Prana thing then it wouldn't effect him at all.

how does this make sense?
he may not notice it effecting him, but it would still effect him :shrug:

to me its a fact that when i ejaculate im either so tired that i have to go to sleep or i become so hungry that i need to eat straight away, this tells me that by ejaculating im losing something that needs to be recharged

It makes perfect sense.  You have to take into consideration the psychosomatic component when considering something like "Prana" and the mystique that goes along with it.  If you believe in it, then YEAH, it'll effect you because you've made it so in your reality.  You're aware of it. 

If you don't believe in it, it won't effect you because you don't notice it, it's not a part of your reality.  You're not aware of it, so it's simply not there, and not a part of your human set. 

Personally, I get energized after I orgasm and feel it "clears the passageways."  But I don't orgasm everyday and like to have some time between my orgasms simply because it feels better that way. 

If you look at orgasming from an energy perspective, then you expend vital energy, therefore your prana is reduced. But it's different for everyone. I feel I have an ever-flowing source of energy so I don't feel energetically reduced by orgasming.  In fact I can even open up channels inside myself and bring energy IN by letting go in orgasm.  I feel like Prana is simply a matter of perspective and definitely NOT something that is black and white.  It depends what you put into it.

psychosematic i get that & don't disagree, but its about noticing it, not about it actually happening or not, it happens, its whether your aware of it or not

a sage will notice the loss of prana through ejaculation as he has a heightened sense of awareness, joe smith won't notice it, but the same physiological process happens in both men, if they ejaculate they lose something

even if they don't believe they lose something, they still do!

ejaculating (not orgasm) depletes energy, whether you beleive in prana or not, or notice it or not, it does make your body work to replenish what youve lost

also orgasm & ejaculation are not the same thing

im having an all body orgasm right now & im not even erect let alone ejaculating!

That's what I am contesting actually.  How do you know this?  Can this be proven?  Can you detect what happens in another persons being in this situation?  You can only go from your own personal experience when it comes to prana and not make statements for humanity at large.  We are not all the same. 

Look, I'm all about Prana.  :smile:  I dig it.  I'm a believer.  But to people who aren't (maybe people like Hugh Heffner) Prana means nothing and you can't say that it adds something or that something is taken away and have it be a generalized statement.

Seems like it's natural and that instead of something being lost, something is gained.  :shrug:  Think about it...can energy EVER TRULY be LOST??! 

This is just my perspective with Prana.  I gather energy.  I don't lose it.  I use it.  After I use it, it's not gone.  It gets recycled in the flow.  It's always there no matter what I am doing. 

I'm sure if I thought about "losing energy" in regards to something, I would.  That's just not how I think.

Isn't sperm reabsorbed by the body if you don't ejaculate anyway? ( I could be wrong on this. )  So it's gone whether you keep it in or let it fly.


I actually feel more enerjectic after orgasm.

The only thing I feel a loss of is stress.

Another point to consider with Hugh though is the fact that he is extremely rich and can afford the best healthcare.  Surely a determining factor in his longevity.

If I work out 3 hours straight, the same thing happens.  However, we know that a steady workout regimen increases lifespan and decreases morbidity and mortality.

I don't think there is any objective evidence orgasm decreases lifespan or has adverse effects.

The creation of semen is a natural physiological process the body has adapted to do, just like the creation of fecal matter or urine.

If ejaculation led to adverse effects, it probably would have been evolutionarily eliminated over the past millions years or so.

I dont think the debate is about life longevity, rather that daily energy levels are lowered through frequent ejaculations.

I definatly feel "spent" after an ejaculation + prefer to let it build up. When i do, i am all around more outgoing, more creative, and more energetic.

I've seen studies that show people who have more orgasms live longer, but I don't know how credible they were.  I'm sure if you spent the time you could find them.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to consider that sex and masturbation are both tiring to some degree, so after you ejaculate, you're tired from the acting of achieving the orgasm...
